Silver Cracked Sorbet

I tried to think of something cute to call this, but it just ain't happening....:) LOL!

I had a pretty crappy weekend, so on to the manicure...haha!

I started off with 3 coats of OPI's "Big Hair...Big Nails", this is the only sorbet color I own from this collection and I swore to myself that this color would be the first, the name is THE BEST!!!!

I topped the 3 coats, with 1 coat OPI Top Coat and then 1 coat of Seche Vite. This is a gorgeous orangey coral, and it is gorgeous!

I love this color, so pretty and coral colored, shiny and juicy..YUM!! I am really loving jelly/sorbet finishes now, they are always so bright and shiny and they scream SPRING!!!!

After 3 fabulous days of this manicure, I topped it with 1 coat of my silver crackling polish from P2, "Silver Blast", and then a thin layer of top coat.

I imagine that the OPI silver crackle color coming out will have more bling, at least from the PR pics it looks like ti will :)...a girl can dream right?..LOL :):)

OPI "Funky Dunkey"
Orly "Red Flare"

Wow! 1 coat of OPI DS "Shimmer" and it will make any color a holo...sweet!!!!

The red came out nice, I can see my self doing this again.

The green is my awesome, I mean wow, this one totally caught my eye, once I stepped outside.  the yellow was a bit of a disappointment. :(   But my favorites...of course.... were the...

Gray by Gray

I bought this color on sale at Walgreen's for $2.99.

Get this......I've had it for almost 6 months and found no need to but it on, until one night, when I couldn't decide what color to apply and this one screamed "Give me a GO"...so I did. :)

Sally Hansen
"Gray by Gray"
2 coats, 1 coat of OPI top coat and 1 coat of Seche Vite

I love this color, it's a great simple gray that has a great "blue stone" kind of tone to it. I can't believe I let this sit in my un-trieds so long..LOL !

These Sally Bottles are so cute, they remind me of cute little soldiers all dressed up and standing tall.....but now I realize why I avoided using these cute little guys...the BRUSH!!!

:(

I do NOT like this brush, it's really wide and really long and the excess polish drips from the base of the brush while you are painting the nail and makes a bloody mess. :( I know some users love these brushes and find no problems with them, but they are not for me.

Now the formula is great, no issues with application, 2 coats and it was perfect. However this is the 2nd time I've used a color from this line and both times I had bubbles.

To avoid shrinkage lately, I have been doing a double top coat method using a non-fast drying top coat and then topping it with Seche and I have found out 2 things:

1. I do not get any shrinkage in my manicures
2. My manicures last way longer, with no chipping....AWESOME! (don't forget to wrap the tips, too!)

So despite the bubbles and the horrid brush, I STILL like these polishes...when they are on sale :) LOL:)

The Dr. is In!

I have a review today of a really different nail lacquer line, the birth-child of 2 New York based podiatrists, Dr. Adam Cirlincione and Dr. William Spielfogel, Dr.'s REMEDY.

"The birth of Dr.'s REMEDY® began with a warning. Dr. Cirlincione's wife was pregnant and advised against using hair dyes, eating certain foods, and being exposed to harsh chemicals. Dr. Cirlincione began to research the toxins contained in most commercial nail polish, which is commonly used by pregnant women. It became obvious that formaldehyde, toluene and DBP are not only linked to serious health problems, but also potentially damaging to the nail as well.

Dr. Cirlincione partnered with Dr. Spielfogel and together they formulated Dr.'s REMEDY®, free from THE BIG 3, but also UNIQUELY ENRICHED with ingredients, such as tea tree oil and garlic bulb extract, which are naturally occurring anti-fungal, antibacterial, and healthier for the nail.

Not only is Dr.'s REMEDY® better for you, it comes in a rainbow of today's most fashionable colors.

•Enhanced with naturally occurring anti-fungal ingredients and vitamins to promote healthier nails.

•Appealing to women with discolored nails, pregnant women, or parents looking for safer alternatives for their children.

•Allergen friendly for those sensitive to chemicals in commercial nail polish.

•Enriched means a stronger, healthier looking nail, which is appealing to everyone."

First up...

"Revive"
2 coats, no top coat

Revive is described as a ruby red shimmer infused Wizard of Oz inspired shade of crimson. A great red shimmer-frost.  I'm sure there  are other similar colors, but can they say they are enriched with tea tree oil, vitamins and wheat protein?...I don't think so :) The 2nd coat is key to this color it really does a great job eliminating brush-strokes.

"Desire"
2 coats, no top coat

Desire is described as a cocoa meets hot fudge handsome hue.  I honestly was ready to hate this color on my skin, but it's rich tones really appeal to me. Smooth, creamy, gorgeous. I really like this chocolaty colored creme, 2 coats, no issues :)

"Healing"
2 coats, no top coat

Healing is described as a seductive pewter with deep blue undertones.  I may not agree with the description, but I know one thing....I love greys and I love THIS grey too. The 1st coat had bald spots but the 2nd coat covered them up perfectly.

There is also another color on their site that I REALLY want, it's called "Vigor" and it's described as a vibrant bluish-purple....I sooooo want that color. :)

Dr.'s REMEDY nail colors are free from toxins found in most commercial nail polish ( DBP, Toluene and Formaldehyde).  Dr.'s REMEDY Enriched Nail Polish is available for $16 online at http://www.remedynails.com/ or by calling 1-877-323-NAIL.

Blue Skies...Barffy Burgers...GIRLS!!!!!

Please tell me I am not the only one who watched "You Can't Do That On Television" on Nickelodeon...come one, it's where the "Green Slime" was born..LOL! :)

I worshipped that show, it was awesome!

Anyway, today I have "Blue Skies" by Claire's, a great blue jelly with holographic glitter. :)

Claire's
"Blue Skies"
3 coats

Even though you can see the "smile line"  or "VNL" of the nail, I still really like this polish.  I usually dislike thin colors, but this one sparkles so much, it's fun and funky! This would be awesome over another blue color. :)

After a couple days I decided to top it with a white crackle polish I bought last year at the Long Beach Nail Show, by Mavira.

I put it on in 1 thick coat so I could get the BIG cracks...so cool!!!

So cool! Look at that glitter coming thru the cracks :P

Guest apperance by ..My Niece

Every once in a while my niece comes over and ask for her nails to be done...usually she picks purple (her favorite color), but every once in awhile she throws me a bone and asks for something different...LOL

This time she requested a color to match her softball teams colors.  Her league mimics real softball college teams, and her new team are the UCLA Bruins. :):):)

Of course I had NO PROBLEM doing this manicure because I am an alum of UCLA and I LOVE my alma mater!! Woo hoo!!!

2 coats of $OPI "Havana Dreams" and the dots are China Glaze "Happy Go Lucky"

My niece really wanted to use my konading stamp with the "zebra" print, but I need a more pigmented yellow polish than my China Glaze to do it. Instead, I convinced her to do dots.  I also used the "sticky sandwich" method, at her request.

I'm sure she had the cutest manicure out of all her teammates :) GO BRUINS!!!!!

Claires: Poison Apple

Happy Friday......I couldn't get my hands on MAC "Bad Fairy", but I did get my hands on Claire's "Poison Apple".  Unfortunately it is not a dupe of "Bad Fairy", BUT it isn't half bad.

Claire's "Poison Apple"
3 coats

In the shade

The color really does remind me of a dark juicy red apple that has an awesome dark orange foil finish.  I really like this color.  The formula is a bit watery and thin, but it layered nicely and was opaque in 2 coats.  I did 3 coats to see if I could get more depth out of the color, and I did :)

Can you see the flash of "foil duo-chrome" fabulousness?? :)

Only in in-direct sunlight does this polish really shine, it's awesome in indoor lighting...how often can you say that about a polish. :)

So, if you happen to be by a Claire's I'd definitely pick this baby up, its worth it, especially when Claire's has their "But One Get One Half Off" sales :)

O.B.A.G.

I don't know if this color classifies as an "Oldie But A Goodie", but it's old and it's good...LOL :)

Sally Hansen "Arabian Nights"
2 coats

This was the best Ebay find EVER..not because it was super coveted, nor because it was hard to find, but exactly 1 year ago I found this on Ebay for exactly what it was originally  sold for $5.99...LOL! :)

$5.99 plus shipping and that was it, and the shipping fee wasn't part of a gouge fest..it was $2.50..That's it!!!

I had no issues with this formula, smooth, opaque in 2 coats, and dried nicely and the bottle shape is awesome!

Gorgeous purple cream with golden shimmer, It's really pretty and Sally Hansen truly "broke the mold" when they made this color :)

They seriously need to bring this back.  They should come out with a "vintage" line and bring back some of the most popular old colors, don't you think??

Oh and if they did this, they better not try and raise the price...LOL, that just ain't right!!

Have a great day :)
