UCLA 38-U$C 28...UCLA BRUINS TRIUMPH!

Yes, yes, the biggest cross-town rivalry in Southern California was played today, and my UCLA Bruins, triumphed over U$C...AMAZING Game!

Of course I did a true blue BRUIN manicure for the event!

I used...

Nicole by OPI "I Sea You and Raise You", "Sephora by OPI "Havana Dreams", "NVL Custom "Bruin 4 Life", and China Glaze "Lemon Fizz".

I did 2 coats of each of the cremes and then 1 good coat of my glitter! Topped it with 2 coats of top coat and that was all I needed.

2 coats of top coat were not needed since the glitter is super smooth, but I wanted my manicure to be indestructible for game day!

The $OPI, gave me serious issues, it was thin and watery, but I was diligent and made it work.

This NOPI was amazing, 2 coats and it was perfect, smooth formula great pigmented color, Love it!

This China Glaze is one of the best light yellows I have. Most yellow polishes are notorious for having "streaking" and "spotting" issues, and this is no exception, but it is better than most.

Yes this glitter was the best "dream/idea" I ever had.  I love that NVL could create this for me, it's perfect!!!!

I had a dream...

...that some day......No, no, no, nothing that deep. :)

I seriously went to bed thinking about 2 polishes that I would love to own, but do not have the talent nor the  resources to make, LOL!

So when I woke up, I emailed my friend Amy of Nail-Venturous Lacquers and asked her to make 2 polishes based on my descriptions.  She totally rocked it, and here they are!

First, I asked for a purple with red, gold, and purple glitter and I wanted it called "Little Red Corvette" ala Prince. O(+>

"Little Red Corvette"
2 coats, no top coat

See... I could have easily had her make a red based polish and named it this, but I was thinking more of the video, than the literal name of the song. :)  The video was purple based, and had lots of bright lights and flashes of red, that's what I was going for!

LOVE IT!!!!

Here's the video in case you forgot what it looks like :) *swoon*

Next up was a polish for my beloved and dear Alma Mater UCLA, University of California Los Angeles :)

I wanted a polish I could wear over yellow, blue, or white that screamed the traditional UCLA colors.  I requested this one to be "Floam like", ala her famous "Floam" nail polish, nothing too flashy, just something that says "Bruin Pride"!

"Bruin 4 Life"
2 coats, no top coat

On the index finger I did 1 coat of OPI "What's with the Cattitude?" and  1 coat of "Bruin 4 Life".  On the other nails I just did 2 coats of "B4L" :)

This is the perfect blue, yellow and white non-shiny glitter, Bruin approved.

See what a difference the blue base coat makes? It's amazing how the colors do not look "greenish", and the blue and yellow POP!!!

That's what I was going for! Next time I'll do 2 coats of "B4L" over a blue, and it will be awesome!

Thank You Amy for making my Prince and Bruin dreams come true! :)

Manicure using Nail-Venturous "Flying Blue Jay"

Feeling blue? I'm not, but I'm always in the mood for BLUE! :):)

You like?

Thumb to Pinkie:Nail Venturous "Flying Blue Jay", China Glaze "Frostbite", OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls", Nail Venturous "Flying Blue Jay", and China Glaze "Frostbite".

On my left I did the same colors, but in a slightly different order.

OPI "My Boyfriend Scales Walls" is my new favorite white polish, perfect in 2 coats, I love it!

Nail-Venturous "Flying Blue Jay", is a gorgeous medium blue jelly base with large white hexagon glitter and white micro-glitter, 2 coats and it applied wonderfully, great glitter!

I think FBJ, goes well with China Glaze "Frostbite", they compliment each other very well.

Nail-Venturous Lacquers

I've had these polishes for awhile now, and I even forgot I swatched them until I found them and thought "I never posted these?"...so here they are! I purchased some, and swapped for the rest and finally here they are all together, direct from Nail-Venturous ;)

Nail-Venturous: Pinkerbell, Orange You Unique?, and Humble Bee.

"Pinkerbell"
2 coats, no top coat

Great color, baby blue, yellow and pink micro glitter in a clear base. This is the kind of glitter that doesn't shine, but lights up a room anyway. :) I like how soft this color appears on its own, topped over another "like color", and it will be perfect at 1 coat or 2...you decide. :)  This glitter is not super smooth, and it has a slight texture to it that can easily be tamed with any of the best top coats, I suggest Seche Vite. :)

"Orange You Unique?"
2 coats, no top coat

Love this one! Matte orange, bright blue, light yellow micro-glitter in a peach base. Great coverage in 2 coats.   A bit thick, so some thinner was required. After I received this bottle, the swapper I swapped with contacted Nail-Venturous to see if I could get a better "thinner" bottle, and she sent one immediately. Gotta love great customer service.  Again, this glitter is not super smooth, and it has a slight texture to it that can easily be tamed with any of the best top coats, I suggest Seche Vite. :)

"Humble Bee"
2 coats, no top coat

This color is amazing! I plan on layering this over white or a light yellow. The yellow micro-glitter in this is almost neon, and paired with the black...well it's amazing!!! The black glitter is medium sized hexagons and really stands out against the yellow micro-glitters :)

All of these polishes are amazing, and even though Nail venturous doesn't make their own polishes, you can still get the same polish, authorized by Nail-Venturous from Ninja Polish.

Get them, you will not be disappointed. :)

FLOAM!!!!!

Yep, you've all seen it before, it's FLOAM made by Nail-Venturous Lacquers.

Every time it came up for sale, I would wait patiently by the laptop, quickly add it to my cart, and at checkout it would be stolen from me, LOL!!

I thought I would never get my hands on a bottle, but finally a lovely chica in my nail group messaged me and said she had an extra bottle and would swap for it. I was soooo happy! When I finally had it in my hands, I knew it was fate! I LOVE this polish!

Nail-Venturous Lacquers
"Floam"
2 coats over 1 coat of Orly "Viridian Vinyl" (w/ top coat)

"Floam" is a an awesome polish made up of tiny dots of green, yellow and blue suspended in a fabulous clear base.  Application was a bit tricky as Floam can be a little thick, but once it is on and dried,  it wears like a champ, no chips for 5 days. Love it!

It does dry a bit matte, but very little and it dried relatively smooth, so no need for several top coats,  1 coat of top coat was fine for me. :)

This polish is so unique in soooo many ways, I love it!

Floam can be purchase at Ninja Polish.  Or if you are feeling super lazy, just click on the link to the right of the page under "Candy Shop of the Month" :)

Floam makes a great gift for any polish lover, or for yourself :)
