VROOM, VROOM - OPI Mustang Collection, Swatches and Review

Ladies....start your ENGINES! Last summer OPI released their collaboration collection with Ford, for the 50th Anniversary of the Mustang!

There are 6 colors, in the collection and I am sure there is one that you will love...maybe two! :)

Starting off with...my favorite, the BLUE one!

OPI "The Sky's My Limit"
3 coats, no top coat

I LOVE this color, but I hate how it photographs! The first picture, is not at all how it looks on he nail, the nail line is not visible.

The second picture is how it looks.  It is a a metallic blue shimmer, with blue, green and gold flecks. It reminds me of OPI "Catch Me If You Can", but this leans more blue, whereas CMIYC leans more teal green.

The third picture is in in-direct lighting. Here you can see the flecks and shimmer. Because I knew this was going to photograph sheer, I did 3 coats, but you only need 2 coats for full opacity.

OPI "Race Red"
2 coats, no top coat

Not really "red" and not really "orange".  This was a red / orange creme. It was smooth and applied well, opaque in 2 coats, no issues. This type of color looks great on my skin, but it does NOT remind me of a "Race" or a Mustang, LOL!

OPI "50 Years of Style"
2 coats, no top coat

This is a gorgeous gold! Even Though it is "brush stroke-y", it tries to a nice, burnished shine. This gold is NOT brassy, and is subtle and soft enough for everyday use. I used 2 coats, and it applied well. No issues.

OPI "Queen Of The Road"
2 coats, no top coat

"Queen Of The Road" is black with a frosty silver shimmer.  At different angles you can even see some pink and gold in it. This colors remind me of a newly paved black road. Dark and deep, but with a hint of metallic flecks from rocks, metal and debris. I like it, and although the first coat applied patchy, once a minute passed the second coat applied like butter.

OPI "Angel With A Leadfoot"
2 coats, no top coat

This is obviously a white creme. Nothing exciting, except for the fact that I use white polish the most, so having another white creme is always a good thing. :) This applied well in 2 coats, simple and easy, no fuss.

OPI "Girls Love Ponies"
2 coats, no top coat

This is a pretty pink creme. It applied well in 2 coats, no issues and it dried to a shiny finish.

Which one is my favorite?..DUH! OPI "The Sky's My Limit", but I think "Queen Of The Road" is the most unique.

Which one do you like? What color, would you like to have seen in the collection?

OPI Halloween Peanuts Collection Manicure

Yep, I am super duper behind in my swatching and reviews. November was a very hectic and busy month for me, with trails, traveling and the holidays...oh and my birthday! :)

I am a huge Peanuts fan, so when OPI teamed up with them to release a collection I was very happy!

Instead of swatching each individual color, I decided to show me my manicure using the colors.

Left to Right: OPI "Good Grief!", "Where's My Blanket???", "Who Are You Calling Bossy?!?", and "To Be Or Not To Beagle".

I appled "Good Grief" to 3 of my nails", and applied "Who Are You calling Bossy ?!?" to my ring finger.   I added a matte top coat to my index finger for added dimension.  To my middle finger I applied "Where's My Blanket???" and to the pinkie I applied "To Be Or Not To Beagle", both in one coat.

"Good Grief" is an amazing yellow, and it applied well in two coats. Because yellows are notoriously hard to apply, I made sure my second coats was thick.  The added matte top coat really makes it pop, I think I love it more with the matte top coat, than without.

OPI "Who Are You calling Bossy ?!?" is the "Lucy" polish and since I LOVE her, I love it! It's basically a black creme, but this has a more "jelly" formula, so two coats is definitely required.

"Where's My Blanket" is a clear based multi glitter with black, peach and light yellow hex glitter. This was not thick or clumpy and went on well in one coat. :)

"To Be Or Not To Beagle" is another favorite of mine, that went on well in one coat. With a clear base and a multitude of colors in it, this is a great confetti glitter. It has black, white, red, blue peach, yellow, and green glitter.  The perfect colors you would find in a Peanuts comic strip!

My favorite is "To Be Or Not To Beagle" and "Good Grief".  :)

Which one is your favorite? Keep It Sweet!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Here is my spooky manicure!

I poked around pinterest to get some easy nail ideas.  I'll breakdown the nail designs with each nail individually.

Index "Frankenstein" Nail:  I applied 2 coats of Zoya "Josie", and once it was semi-dry, I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a brush in a track-like pattern, ALA Frankenstein.

Middle "Who's out there?" Nail: I applied 2 thin coats of KBShimmer "Eclipse". Once it was semi-dry (dry to the touch), I applied OPI "Alpine Snow" and Sally Hansen "Mellow Yellow" (old version) with a dotting tool.  Once that was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a smaller dotting tool to the centers in varying angles. :)

Ring "Web" Nail: I don't like spiders, but I don't mind webs. I applied 2 coats of Orly "Shine" (my favorite silver) , and once it was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse", with a nail striping brush. This is a brush that is very long and makes great straight lines. Then, I  followed it up with a smaller brush to make the web-connections.   The connections were much harder, I'll have to perfect my technique with a thinner brush than I used.

Pinkie "Vampire" Nail: Super easy.  I applied 1 coat of OPI "Alpine Snow- Matte", and then 1 coat of regular OPI "Alpine Snow"

NOTE: I've discovered when working with white polishes, that if you first apply a matte version then the regular version, you get less drag and complete opaqueness without waiting for the dry time.

After that was "semi-dry", I applied, 3 red dots using "Zoya "Rekha" with a dotting tool, and then 3 red thin lines using a nail art brush, down towards the tip of the nail. I filled the rest of the tip using the brush, to make it look more "blood-like".

Thumb "Eyeball" Nail: This was a bit harder.  First I applied two coats of OPI "Alpine Snow", using the same method I used on the "Vampire Nail", then I applied  Zoya "Yummy" using my largest dotting tool, and smoothed it out in a circular motion, until I thought it was the right size. Getting this to be a "perfect" circle was hard for me. :( Once it was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a dotting tool, on top.

While that was drying, I drew on the red veins using Zoya "America", with a nail art brush.  Then I grabbed OPI "Alpine Snow" and made a small dot, at an angle.

NOTE: To clean up the blue eye, I used OPI "Alpine Snow-Matte" to quickly and easily cover-up the not-so "circular parts".  Matte polishes are perfect for covering up mistakes.  They are super opaque and dry fast.

I waited 20 minutes, before I applied my final 2 coats of top coat, because of the all the varying layers.

Overall, I am in LOVE with my Halloween Manicure!

Happy Halloween! Keep It Sweet!

OPI Supports Breast Cancer Awareness with it's Eighth Annual

Earlier this month OPI released it's eighth annual "Pink of Hearts" promotion to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

"This duo pack is designed to raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. In 2014, OPI will donate $25,000 to Susan G. Komen® in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October). OPI will also donate $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer in Canada."

OPI "Mod About You" and "The Power of Pink"

Out of all of the OPI Breast Cancer colors, this is my favorite!  You all know that I am NOT a "pink fan", but this combo really speaks to me.

For the manicure I applied 2 coats of the glitter to my index, middle and pinkie finger, topped with 1 coat of top coat.  For the ring finger I applied 2 coats of the creme and topped it with a matte top coat.

On the thumb I applied 2 coats of the creme, and then 1 coat of the glitter, topped with 1 coat of top coat.

The creme "Mod About You", is a classic light pink creme. This is a re-release, but the formula has been improved and this was very easy to apply, and was perfectly opaque in 2 coats.

The glitter "The Power of Pink",  is a a milky pink tinted base with white and bright pink hex glitters, and pink micro-glitters. AMAZING! This is amazing by itself in 2 coats. I did 2 thick coats for my swatch, but if I were to wear it again, I would apply 3 thin coats, making sure it dried without bubbles :)

The duo came with a cute little nail file, that has different pink glitters on each side. I'll keep mine in my gym bag :)

Mod About You and The Power of Pink feature OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application. Pink of Hearts 2014 will be available September and October 2014 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, beautybrands.com, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, ULTA and ulta.com for $16.95 ($21.50 CAN) suggested retail.

OPI Coca-Cola Collection: Swatches and Review

OPI and Coca Cola collaborated on a collection this summer, and it was a HIT! Although I do not DRINK Coca-Cola products, I do WEAR them, LOL!

Left to Right:  Most with two coats, and no top coat. OPI "Sorry I'm Fizzy Today" (3 coats) , "You're Soo Vain-Illa", "My Signature Is 'DC' ", "Coca-Cola Red".

"Sorry I'm Fizzy" is a pale salmon pink creme.  It applied well in three coats. I had to "work with this" in order to cover up the bald spot, so you've been warned.

"You're Soo Vain-Illa"  is a  light ivory creme. It applied well in two coats, and I actually used this in several manicures. This is a great color for Summer and Fall.

"My Signature Is 'DC' " is a smooth silver foil.  Another great silver foil, great in two coats.  Shiny and smooth, PERFECTION!

"Coca-Cola Red" is a the perfect coke can red! It applied smoothly in two coats, no application issues.

Left to Right All with two coats, and no top coat.  "Orange You Fantastic!", "Coca-Cola Red" topped with "Orange You Fantastic", "A Grape Affair", "Get Cherried Away".

"Orange You Fantastic!" is a yellow tinted base with red, silver and orange glitter.

"Coca-Cola Red" creme with "Orange You Fantastic" on top.  This is a great pair. Because the glitter has the yellow tint, it adds a nice color shift to the red creme and delivers great glitter coverage in two coats.

"A Grape Affair" is a deep blue-based purple creme. Applied well in two coats. Perfect for Summer and Winter, and this is also a great pedicure color :)

"Get Cherried Away" is a magenta creme. This applied well in two coats, smooth and opaque.

Left to Right "Today I Accomplished Zero" and "Green On The Runway".

"Today I Accomplished Zero" is a black jelly base with pink glitter. This applied well in two coats, but if you want full opacity I would apply three coats or use a back creme as a base. :)  I really like this polish, and the combination of black and pink is very wearable.

"Green On The Runway" is a green to red duochrome.  The application was good and applied smoothly in two coats. The duochrome effect is not as strong as other duochromes on the market, but the effect is still present in low light and indoors.

Overall, the collection didn't have any stand outs, but some of the colors are great. My favorites are "You're Soo Vain-Illa", "My Signature Is 'DC'  and "Today I Accomplished Zero".

Neon Tips by OPI

Hello and Happy Monday!

Today I have some cute neon tips did using OPI's neon polishes released earlier this summer, and some nail decal tips from the Born Pretty Store!

COUPON CODE: 10% off  when you use JS10K31

When I first saw all of these great colors, I couldn't decide which color I wanted to wear..so I wore them ALL! :)

Left to Right: OPI "Push & Pur-Pull", "Life Gave Me Lemons", "Juice Bar Hopping", "Hotter than You Pink", "You are So Outta Lime",  and "Down to the Core-al"

To get these colors to really pop, you have to use the base color, "Put a Coat On". It's your basic white, but not as "bright white" as most white polishes.  :)

I used two coats of the base color, and then I applied two coats of the neon nail colors using the guides. Theses are the same guides I used in my review post, HERE.

I used some of the same colors, but in a different order on my left hand.

This manicure was easy to apply and fun to wear.  The neon's dried amazingly fast, and they really POP with the white base color.  The guides were much easier to use the second time around. I guess practice does make perfect :)

Did you get the OPI Neon's? Which is your favorite color?

  • To Be or Not To Beagle - Snoopy’s happy-dance of colors in a joyful glitter.

Each of the four shades is also available in the Little Peanuts mini pack, which is sold with ten nail decals ranging from popular Peanuts phrases like “Good Grief!” and “Pow!” to sketches of Snoopy and the signature squiggle of Charlie Brown’s shirt.

OPI MLB Collection: Swatches and Review

Happy Monday! Yes, I say happy because usually Mondays are not thought of as happy, but they should be when I have such a beautiful set of nail colors to share with you! :)

OPI and the MLB have paired up to give us 7 beautiful colors to celebrate America's favorite pastime...BASEBALL!  I wasn't much of a baseball fan until I dated one, and he was a Yankee fan, so that made me a Yankee fan by default.  I really learned about the sport by watching the Yankees games, and I grew to love the team. My favorite player was Mariano Rivera, who just retired...he was amazing! :)

Anyway, back to the polish...

OPI "Short-Stop!"

2 coats, no top coat

A nice red creme, applied well in two coats. Dried to a nice shine. This is perfect for the "no-nonsense fan"

OPI "Love Athletes In Cleats"

2 coats, no top coat

A pretty red creme with a subtle shimmer. I was lucky enough to catch good light in my photos, so you can really see the shimmer. This is perfect for the "girly fan" . Applied well in two coats, no issues.

OPI "Orange You Going To The Game?"

3 coats, no top coat

This is an orange frost, which took three coats to get a perfect smooth application.  Because this is a frost, make sure your strokes are smooth and consistent between nails.  Some frost can be very pretty when applied perfectly.  This is not a favorite of mine, but would be perfect for the "die hard fan. The fan whose team is orange, and they will wear this on their hands, NO MATTER WHAT. LOL!  :)

OPI "Right Off The Bat"

2 coats, no top coat

This is a bright blue shimmer that has just a tad of frost to it. Because of the frost, your application still must be smooth. But because this is more shimmer than frost, the polish is more forgiving. Gorgeous in two coats, no issues. This is for the "true blue fan".

OPI "7th Inning Strrretch"

2 coats, no top coat

This is a dark frosty blue.  This polish is a dark frosty navy blue . This applied well in two coat and would be perfect for that "steely fan" with nerves of steel. The kind of fan that stays till the very end of the game, even when their team is losing by 20 points, LOL!

OPI "Umpires Come Out At Night"

3 coats, no top coat

This is a dark blue creme. The first couple of layers were patchy, but by the third layer, all the bald spots were gone. This is for the "true blue fan".

OPI "Girls Love Diamonds"

3 coats, no top coat

Who doesn't love diamonds? This is very pretty, but the visible nail line bugs me. It was not opaque in 3 coats, but because of the thickness (after three coats) , I would not apply more. It dried smooth and it looks great in indirect lighting...

But like I said...the visible nail line bother me, so this is not a favorite of mine. This polish is for the "fair weather fan".  Those fans that only cheer for the team when they are winning, LOL!

Overall, none of these colors are special, but they have fun name,  and you can definitely find a color that can go with most MLB teams.

So...what kind of fan are you? :)
