Guess whose birthday it is?!?.....PRINCE!

Yep, it's that time of year! This is the day that Prince Rogers Nelson was born!!!

So in honor of this glorious day, I have a special polish to share with you...

China Glaze "Purple Rain".  This is an old bottle of China Glaze "Purple Rain".  I purchased it about a year ago from a blog sale or a FB sale, I can't recall...anyway, it's called "Purple Rain", and it's MINE!!!!

"Purple Rain"
3 coats, with top coat.

China Glaze "Purple Rain" is a whisper light periwinkle/silver frost with silver, light blue and purple shimmer.  It actually was opaque in 2 coats, but I did 3 just in case.

This went on surprisingly well for an older polish, and did not give me any "pooling" or "drag" issues. It is true that I am not fond of "frost" polishes, but this is named after a Prince song, and that trumps ALL dislikes, LOL!!!

I know Prince does not celebrate his birthday, but I do!!

Happy Birthday Prince!

Purple Crack....

Tonight PRINCE will be performing in Chicago, my old home town. :( Alas.... I did not buy tickets, because I have other commitments, and I know I can do a lot more with my money than buy a concert ticket AND plane ticket......but I was THIS close to going, trust me!!!

So in honor of the concert, I WON'T be seeing (I've seen him in concert 4 times), here is a purple manicure, that I did a while ago and frankly forgot all about... until today! :)

2 coats of Essence "Where is the Party?" under 1 coat of China Glaze "Fault Line".

The essence is a duo-chrome shimmer, with flashes of green, purple, and sometimes silver, hey I guess that makes it a multi-chrome shimmer ;)

It applied easily in 2 coats, it was a bit runny on the first coat, but the second coat went on nicely. Once it was dry to the touch I applied one coat of the China Glaze crackle.  It is hard to capture the chrome flashes in the pics, but in person, it is very obvious on the nail. :)

Since the crackle dries with a slight matte texture, I applied my usual top coat to help it dry and give it shine! I know we've all seen crackles and we are "over them", but I think it's nice to be reminded how much we initially liked them and were intrigued by them in the beginning. :)

Overall I really like this manicure even though my camera did not, LOL :)

Deborah Lippmann "Let's Go Crazy"

My 2 favorite things in one! Prince and Deborah Lippmann...oh yeah...I am in HOG HEAVEN!

Deborah Lippmann
"Let's Go Crazy"
2 coats.

Let's Go Crazy, is basically  DL "Happy Birthday" with a purple base. The base is sheer enough to almost look like a jelly, but not quite. It is opaque in 2 coats, but if you are not careful like, me you can get bald spots (i.e. the spot on my index finger) :( No matter I still loved this manicure!

I love this polish and the formula. It dries shiny and smooth, and after my usual 2 coats of top oat, it was smooth as glass, no issues! Removal is difficult, as is with most glitters, but this one is so GORGEOUS it is worth the extra effort. :)

I know some think that the base is too dark  and covers up all the fabulous glitter, but I think it's pretty "spot on". Here are some pics in indirect light. :)

Yep still amazing! This was offered during Nordstroms Anniversary Sale, but I am sure that you will be able to find this on the DL website and at Nordstroms soon, it's too good not to add to the core line, in my opinion. :)

I had a dream...

...that some day......No, no, no, nothing that deep. :)

I seriously went to bed thinking about 2 polishes that I would love to own, but do not have the talent nor the  resources to make, LOL!

So when I woke up, I emailed my friend Amy of Nail-Venturous Lacquers and asked her to make 2 polishes based on my descriptions.  She totally rocked it, and here they are!

First, I asked for a purple with red, gold, and purple glitter and I wanted it called "Little Red Corvette" ala Prince. O(+>

"Little Red Corvette"
2 coats, no top coat

See... I could have easily had her make a red based polish and named it this, but I was thinking more of the video, than the literal name of the song. :)  The video was purple based, and had lots of bright lights and flashes of red, that's what I was going for!

LOVE IT!!!!

Here's the video in case you forgot what it looks like :) *swoon*

Next up was a polish for my beloved and dear Alma Mater UCLA, University of California Los Angeles :)

I wanted a polish I could wear over yellow, blue, or white that screamed the traditional UCLA colors.  I requested this one to be "Floam like", ala her famous "Floam" nail polish, nothing too flashy, just something that says "Bruin Pride"!

"Bruin 4 Life"
2 coats, no top coat

On the index finger I did 1 coat of OPI "What's with the Cattitude?" and  1 coat of "Bruin 4 Life".  On the other nails I just did 2 coats of "B4L" :)

This is the perfect blue, yellow and white non-shiny glitter, Bruin approved.

See what a difference the blue base coat makes? It's amazing how the colors do not look "greenish", and the blue and yellow POP!!!

That's what I was going for! Next time I'll do 2 coats of "B4L" over a blue, and it will be awesome!

Thank You Amy for making my Prince and Bruin dreams come true! :)

Happy Birthday Prince O(+>

Yep, it's that time of year again!  It's Prince's Birthday! Woo Hoo!!

Now I usually do a sweet manicure for his birthday, but I have been super busy, so here are some swatches of my frankens that I've done in the past, named after Prince songs :)

"Computer Blue"

"Anotherloverholenyohead"

"Party Man"..I have to re-wear this one, Seche Vite did some serious damage (shrinkage) to this manicure! :)

"Something in the Water (Does Not Compute)"

"Life 'O' the Party" (the black glitter)

"It's gonna be a beautiful night"

He is a pure musical genius, I love his level of creativity and musical honesty. What can I say I love him! :)

Happy Birthday Prince, I wish you many more birthdays and blessings! O(+>
