Me and Zoya are not friends today....

I love Zoya polish, in fact I adore it!  The cute little bottles, the amazing colors, the constant availability, its an awesome brand!!!

..but the fact that this polish requires its own topcoat SUCKS!

Yasmeen
2 coats,  1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward on top.

Pretty isn't it, gorgeous purple with a great shimmer, actually this color is awesome..but look closer!

Major F'in shrinkage! >:(  This sucks, I'm sorry Zoya, but the fact that your polish does not "play well with others" bites the big one, seriously! I'm prepared for Seche Vite to cause shrinkage, and now my lovely China Glaze is on the "shrink list".

I know that certain TC's have a certain chemical that does not react well with ZOYA...blah,. blah, blah, but seriously...seriously!?

See...I buy ALL my polish, I don't get anything for free, so having to buy their own topcoat, at a hefty price, just to make this work, simply sucks!!!

I immediately went home and took this off, I was sooo mad!  Yes I know what you guys are saying, I will eventually have to break down and pay $48 for the "Zoya Color Lock System", but that royally blows!!!!

The fact that I have to spend almost $50 to use polish I already own and continue to HAVE TO buy the system, sucks even more.SUUUUCCKKKSSS!

Does anyone know another top coat (that doesn't cost $48) I can use that will NOT shrink my Zoya manicures?? Please let me know!

  1. eeek, I've never had the shrinkage problem with Zoya. I'm gonna have to wear it and see if my TC shrinks it too. That said, I love that color. One of my favorites from Zoya!

  3. Can you add your topcoat wait a min. then add SV? Or, did you do this already?

I'm pretty bad have so many zoyas and haven't used not one yet :/ (shame on me)

  5. This is a big reason I have yet to buy more Zoyas! Is it only fast drying top coats that do it? That is what I heard but I don't own anything else so I can't test it.

  6. i use "out the door" it does'nt give me the shrinkage, and the 16ounce VNS house brand does'nt shrink either. hope this helps its still a pretty mani :)

  7. @aaminahs mom- I have "out the door" and I agree it works, but it doesn't deliver a nice shine to the nail.

@Everyone- Zoya is a great brand, it's just a bit high maintenance in the fact that it REQUIRES it's own top coat...which sucks!

  8. I never have shrinkage with zoya, but I do have some issues with it refusing to Dry. I've allso been looking at the zoya topcoat kit and not wanting to spend $50 on it, so I compromised. They're offering a mini kit now, with mini bottles of BC and tc, drying drops, and a tiny Remove+. I think zoya says its only for Christmas, but I figure its a good way to see if it will even help with my issue. Also I think, you'd only need to REALLY get the topcoat I'd imagine, and it can be bought seperately and can probably be gotten during a promo, too.

  9. @Steph - you can get Zoya in the UK from NailCareClub (official) Beauty4Nail and Beverly Beaute. (I've not used any of these - I got all my Zoyas from the polish exchange and a kind friend in the US!)

  10. Can't you get Zoya TC without having to buy the entire Color Lock System? Either way, shrinkage sucks and Seche needs to get their act together so they can make a non-shrinkage TC.

  11. I use Olan Quick and Slick top coat- super shiny and no shrinkage! I used it with Zoya Cheryl and Julieanne with much success.

  12. I'll send you some armor. you dont need the whole system to avoid shrinkage just the tc. i'll send you some before you commit to a whole bottle to make sure you like it. hollatchagirl on fb ;)

  13. Have you tried Rimmel PRO base/top? I am wearing "Edyta" today and I have no shinkage with it...although maybe I am lucky...good luck finding one that works!

  14. Agree with aaminahs mom, I find Out the Door and "Tough Coat" don't give me shrinkage, but I do get it with SV.

  15. Jackie, I did some research on this and finally found a topcoat that works for me, and its cheap! Color Club 0-60, works like a charm.

  16. I use Out the Door, SV, Poshe, Rush 60 second, color club's TC, China Glaze's TC, and Sally Hansen Insta Dri with Zoya. Sometimes they shrink, sometimes they don't. I think it's more luck of the draw than anything else. I've never used a topcoat that didn't shrink at least once with Zoya.

  17. OMG, Thank You everyone, I now have "non-shrink" options LOL and I may get the promo holiday Zoya remove pack for $20, That seems reasonable!

    Thanks!!!!

  18. the zoya top coat costs 48 dollars?????

  19. I've used Sally Hansen Insta-Dri with Zoyas without shrinkage before. Different things work for different people, though.

  20. @Une Ruxi- The set cost $48, it has remover, base, top, sped dry drops and renew and I think something else. the individual bottles are $7 or $8 :)

  21. @Zara- Thank You I'll add that to my "Zoya friendly top coat list"

  22. I didn't even know this was an issue that lots of people had! I've never had any shrinkage with Zoya unless I use Seche or Poshe which both shrink EVERY polish on my hands. I've used all sorts of top coats. Lots of different ones from Sally Hansen, Out The Door, & my favorite top coat Essie Good 2 Go.

  23. @Appril- I know Seche is usually the shrikage culprit, but Seche does not shrink OPI on me? So odd!!

"Essie good 2 go", I'll add that to the list too :)

  24. I use Poshe TC with my Zoyas and haven't had a problem with shrinkage.

  25. I use the Zoya Anchor and Armor but then I put Seche Vite on top of the Armor, haha.

  26. Soooo glad you posted this. I'm about to buy my first zoyas after this spoon friday thing so knowing that only certain TCs play well with them is definitely a good heads up. thanks! :)

  27. Try CC Vivid Topcoat. I think it dries like a quick dry, but I may be the only one to have the experience. I haven't tried it with Zoya...I don't get much shrinkage...but it's worth a shot and inexpensive. :)

  28. @Keysgoround- Good idea!

@lovelyaddison- No prob, I'm happy to share any info. I know. :)

    @Elizabeth- Good idea, Thanks!

  29. I have had problems with Fast Forward and shrinkage with a lot of polishes (although not with Zoya). Nail Aid's Fast Dry top coat has been reliable for me with just about all brands of polish, though. But I love the shine and smell of Fast Forward, so I use it when I can.

  30. Hm, that's odd.. I never get shrinkage with Zoya. I use Seche Vite, but I also wrap my tips when I do a topcoat to prevent said shrinkage. The only problem I have with Zoya is how much it chips, regardless of what base/topcoat I use. :(

  31. Ick, I have yet to purchase Zoya polish. Maybe I will continue to hold off and stick with OPI, Essie and China Glaze.

I'm a Poshe and SV kind of gal

    ReplyDelete
  32. I've never used Zoya, but Poshe has never caused shrinkage on any brand of mine.

    Good luck!

  33. one coat of precision fast dry top coat and another of the face shop's topcoat works wonders for me!

  34. @ Jackie - ok I got scared when I heard 48 dollars because I want to order some Zoya in the future and don't really feel like paying that much for their top coat.

  35. This color is so lovely. I love it. I need it. I want it. lol
