Dots Dots, and More Dots!

Hey there, today I have a super cute and groovy manicure I did a couple weeks ago. I was watching the Olympics and felt inspired by the crazy color combinations of the gymnast uniforms, so I came up with this.

"Essie: Bikini So Teeny", Rimmel "Sunshine" (received in Int'l swap), and Orly "Old School Orange".

First I applied a base coat, then I painted the corner tip yellow, topped it with a smaller triangle of orange and then the blue.  Then I added dots of varying sizes starting from the yellow triangle up, and so on with the orange, and then the blue. That's it!!! :)

Essie Bikini so teeny is a great bright cornflower blue creme, with the tiniest sparkle in it. You can see it better in the bottle than on the nail, but if you look close on the nail, you can spot a sparkle or two :) It took 2 coats to be opaque, no application issues.

 It was released this summer by Essie. Normally Essie and I DO NOT get along, but this color, and many others from their newer releases are winners in my book!

Electric Purple Polish Comparison

Okay, so I had a request to compare my bottle of Essie "Viva La Vespa" to other electric purple polishes, to see if she has a sister in the group. I heard that Essie "Sexy Divide" is a pretty close comparison, but I do not own it, so I had to work with what I had in my stash...

Left to Right: Rimmel "Violet Metal", Catrice "Poison Me, Poison you", Essie "Viva La Vespa", Illamasqua" Baptiste", "China Glaze "Coconut Kiss", China Glaze "Let's Groove", Diamond Cosmetics "Monarch Masquerade".

Not a bad line up...LOL,  but I think the closest in color and shimmer are....

As you can see, Baptiste is too deep to be a dupe of VLV, the closest matches from my stash would be The Rimmel and Catrice.The Rimmel has the same color base, but the blue flash sets it apart from the Essie.  :)

Essie "Viva La Vespa", has a great "inner fire", that is simply gorgeous on the nail and in person!
 

Before doing this comparison the Catrice was my favorite, but now I'm loving Baptiste.  This will definitely be my next manicure!

Half Moon Manicure

Okay, so I was wearing China Glaze  Kaleidoscope "Visit me is prism" and I didn't want to take it off, so I decided to go a half moon manicure with it. 

It is so hard to say goodbye to such a gorgeous color...LOL :)

Then I applied the frech manicure stickers...

Painted my new color Rimmel "Steel Grey", and wait for it to dry.  I think I placed my stickers too far down, thus giving me more of a "full moon" rather than a "half moon"...LOL :P

And Wallah!!!!

Yeah, definitely more of a "full moon"..LOL, but I think, the colors match up nicely. :)

Why did I wait so long?....

Every time there is some "buzz" about a color, I get excited when I see ti in the store, but I never buy it on  the first "sighting"..LOL.  I usually put it back, and continue on, and every time I see the color, I pick it up, looked at it, and put it back.  Well finally I picked up Rimmel "Steel Grey" and I DID NOT put it back..LOL :)

I wouldn't exactly call it "steel grey", but it is a gorgeous creme.  It's definitely a beautiful taupe creme, which has slight mauve undertones (at last it does on my skin)

The brush is a bit odd, and really square and wide, kinda like the bottle...my poor pinkie was the hardest to paint, I kept having to barely brush the polish over the nail, so my whole pinkie didn't turn out TAUPE! LOL!

It's a great easy color to wear, definitely a core color everyone should have in their collection :)
