Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!

Here is my spooky manicure!

I poked around pinterest to get some easy nail ideas.  I'll breakdown the nail designs with each nail individually.

Index "Frankenstein" Nail:  I applied 2 coats of Zoya "Josie", and once it was semi-dry, I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a brush in a track-like pattern, ALA Frankenstein.

Middle "Who's out there?" Nail: I applied 2 thin coats of KBShimmer "Eclipse". Once it was semi-dry (dry to the touch), I applied OPI "Alpine Snow" and Sally Hansen "Mellow Yellow" (old version) with a dotting tool.  Once that was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a smaller dotting tool to the centers in varying angles. :)

Ring "Web" Nail: I don't like spiders, but I don't mind webs. I applied 2 coats of Orly "Shine" (my favorite silver) , and once it was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse", with a nail striping brush. This is a brush that is very long and makes great straight lines. Then, I  followed it up with a smaller brush to make the web-connections.   The connections were much harder, I'll have to perfect my technique with a thinner brush than I used.

Pinkie "Vampire" Nail: Super easy.  I applied 1 coat of OPI "Alpine Snow- Matte", and then 1 coat of regular OPI "Alpine Snow"

NOTE: I've discovered when working with white polishes, that if you first apply a matte version then the regular version, you get less drag and complete opaqueness without waiting for the dry time.

After that was "semi-dry", I applied, 3 red dots using "Zoya "Rekha" with a dotting tool, and then 3 red thin lines using a nail art brush, down towards the tip of the nail. I filled the rest of the tip using the brush, to make it look more "blood-like".

Thumb "Eyeball" Nail: This was a bit harder.  First I applied two coats of OPI "Alpine Snow", using the same method I used on the "Vampire Nail", then I applied  Zoya "Yummy" using my largest dotting tool, and smoothed it out in a circular motion, until I thought it was the right size. Getting this to be a "perfect" circle was hard for me. :( Once it was "semi-dry", I applied KBShimmer "Eclipse" with a dotting tool, on top.

While that was drying, I drew on the red veins using Zoya "America", with a nail art brush.  Then I grabbed OPI "Alpine Snow" and made a small dot, at an angle.

NOTE: To clean up the blue eye, I used OPI "Alpine Snow-Matte" to quickly and easily cover-up the not-so "circular parts".  Matte polishes are perfect for covering up mistakes.  They are super opaque and dry fast.

I waited 20 minutes, before I applied my final 2 coats of top coat, because of the all the varying layers.

Overall, I am in LOVE with my Halloween Manicure!

Mash-Up: Bar fight, with Spencer!

Yep, I'm BACK!   I've got my new camera and a new nail shape and I am back in business!

It's not exactly FALL here in Southern California, today will be a whopping 108 degrees. So since Mother Nature is stuck in the summer...so are my nails, LOL!  Today I combined a gorgeous creme from Zoya with a gorgeous Pixie Dust from Zoya.

I combined Zoya "Spencer" with Zoya "Bar".

I applied two coats of "Spencer" to the nails, and on the accent finger I applied one coat of "Spencer", and then one coat of "Bar".   After the manicure dried I applied my usual two coats of top coat to the entire manicure, and then topped the accent nail with one coat using a matte top coat.  I like the added texture the matte top coat adds to the Magical PixieDust polish.

"Spencer" is a rich camel cream from the Naturel Deux Collection for Spring 2014. I applied well in two coats and dried in the normal dry time.

"Bar" is a magical pixiedust in a glittery nude topaz from the Magical PixieDust Summer Collection for 2014. It applies best over another color in one coat. Applying a similarly matched base color before applying the pixiedust, not only allows for easier removal, but it requires less coats for opacity.

I love how well thee two color go together, as if they were made for one another.

Tomorrow, I will post my review of the two full collections, but I simply had to show you, my combo first.

Zoya Summer 2014 Tickled and Bubbly Collection: Swatches and Review

Ready for summer? Here are the 2 summer collections released by Zoya earlier this year!
(I took these pictures before my recent nail shape change) :)

I love summer collections and Zoya always delivers! First up, the Tickled Collection.

Zoya "Tilda"
2 coats, no top coat

Kermie! This totally reminds me of Kermit the Frog. This is an apple green creme that applied perfectly in two coats.

Zoya "Ling"
2 coats, no top coat

*swoon* You know I love my blues!  This is a perfect cyan blue creme, that reminds me of the perfect swimming pool, refreshing and cool! This applied well in two coats.

Zoya" Rooney"
2 coats, no top coat

Pretty in Pink.  This is a bright pink creme, more of a medium pink and less "barbie pink" :) It applied well in two coats, no complaints.

Zoya "Kirtridge"
2 coats, no top coat

Bubble gum! This is a perfect bubble gum pink, think "Bazooka", but unlike "Bazooka" this is smooth and not hard, LOL! Applied perfectly in two coats.

Zoya "Wendy"
2 coats, no top coat

I love corals! This is a pink coral, and it applied like a dream, no issues and it was perfect in two coats!

Zoya "Rocha"
2 coats, no top coat

Say HELLO to my new best friend! This is a medium orange creme with a slight pink tone to it. It also has a subtle shimmer to it that really makes it stand out. This is my favorite of the collection and was perfect in two coats.

For the Bubbly Collection I decided to split my manicure into two halves. One half of my nails are the color by itself, and the other half is layered over the corresponding color from the Tickled Collection, except for one. :)

Zoya "Stassi"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Tilda", no top coat.

A kelly green base with a iridescent glitter and added golden shimmer. This reminds me of a mermaids tail :)

Zoya "Muse"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Ling", no top coat.

A gorgeous cyan blue base with iridescent glitter and added golden shimmer. This reminds me of "Charla", but more blue than green. Gorgeous!!

Zoya "Harper"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Kirtridge", no top coat.

This has a very opaque pink base with iridescent glitter and an added gold shimmer. I love the fact this is very opaque on its own, and does not require a base color. Nice job!

Zoya "Binx"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Rooney", no top coat.

A darker pink jelly base, than "Harper", with the added iridescent glitter and golden shimmer.

Zoya "Jesy"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Rocha", no top coat.

This has  orange tinted jelly base with iridescent glitter and added golden orange shimmer. The golden shimmer really adds a nice touch to this polish, I like it better layered than on its own.

Zoya "Alma"
Index and Middle finger 2 coats, no top coat.
Ring and pinkie 2 coats over "Arizona" from the Summer 2012 collection, no top coat.

A perfect match!  When I saw this color, I knew there was a Zoya creme that matched and I found it in "Arizona".  "Alma" is a nice bright golden peach jelly with added iridescent glitter and golden shimmer. Just like the previous color, the golden shimmer is very nice in this color.

My favorites are "Rocha", "Wendy", and "Jesy".  Which ones are your favorites?
