Essence: Colour & Go

So I recently won 6 colors from the Essence "Colour & Go" Collection.

I'm new to Essence and I really like the bright fun colors and little bottles!

The bottles say "1 second per coat"...I'm not sure if this means, it takes 1 second to apply 1 coat, or that it takes 1 second between coats to dry?? Anyway these colors are really cute!

3 Coats
"What do u think?"

Nice juicy peach creme.  This is supposed to be a dupe for Chanel's "Orange Fizz".

It was a bit streaky so three coats was necessary to work out the kinks.
It dried to a nice shine....in fact they all dried to a nice shine! I used no topcoats in these swatches.

2 coats
"Sundancer"

I loved this yellow creme! No "yellow issues", it applied nicely and was great in 2 coats.
For once I can't complain about a yellow, except that I need MORE....LOL!

2 coats
"Check Me Out"
This is a great green creme! Nuff said!

3 coats
"Pool Party"
This color was sheer and needed 3 coats, maybe even 4 coats.  It has a nice glass flecked silver sparkle in it. Love this color, but surprisingly its not my favorite! : /

3 coats
"Underwater"

This is a very nice shimmery marine dark blue, its very shiny and "jewel like"...but not navy. :)

2 coats
"No More Drama"
This is a nice "aged" purple creme. More dusty lilac...not your average pastel...not at all.Love it!

So my favorites are "What do u think? (peach), "Check me out" (green) and "Sundancer" (yellow)....great for summer!

H&M "Blue My Mind" and it's kissing cousin

I recently received H&M "Blue My Mind in a swap and when I received it I loved it but, it looked familiar...then I grabbed its kissing cousin....Sally Hansen "Pacific Blue"

2 coats each
Yep, this is the both of them together, spooky.... huh?!

Here is "Pacific Blue" on the index and ring finger and "Blue My Mind" on the middle and pinkie.

B.M.M. is just a tad lighter, P.B. is a tad deeper...but definitely they are so close that there is no need to have both..agreed?

But since I have them both, I'm keeping both :) HA HA!

Both polishes are great formulas, opaque, creamy, easy to apply, although P.B. is far more...shall we say...pungent, it has an odd smell, definitely different than other nail polishes I've smelled. But the smell is well worth the color! :)

What's the smelliest polish you have?

Three "Disco" Amigos

Last week I saw the display for the new Sally Hansen HD's and it was brand new...untouched, at least until I saw it...I grabbed three without thinking and scurried to the counter.

This is "Spectrum"
2 coats

This polish is thin, but if you do 1 coat of any nude colored polish and then 2 or 3 coats of these, you are good to go!
This one applied okay, it was a little runny and thin, but the turquoise mirrored effect is SOOOO worth it.  I had less duo chrome effect on this one, the light purple flash is definitely there just less obvious than the other 2.

This is "DVD"
3 coats

This was thinner than Spectrum, but so much prettier, you can see the duo-chrome effect while you wear this one.  It flashes between lilac and turquoise.  At first I did not like it for being so thin, but now its my favorite of the 3.

I have been staring at my nails for the past 3 days, and everyone noticed my nails while I wore this one.
Check out this night shot...It's a disco party on my nails, I think i can hear Donna Summer in the background! Ive worn this one twice already, once using a nude polish as my base color, and 2 coats of this....AWESOME-NESS!

This is "Laser"
2 coats

The duo chrome on this one isn't as evident as "DVD", but it is a deeper shade of blue and purple, and it is GREAT!

This is my 2nd favorite of the three, but then again, its a blue...soooo I automatically love it :)

Here are the three disco-amigos.

Of all the colors in the collection these were the stand outs to me. "Byte" the pink one, looked really thin and the others were just shimmers to me.

Did you grab any from this collection?

American Goodies

I had an appointment in Santa Monica last week, and while I was in the area I thought I would make a special trip to American Apparel to check out the polishes.

I am so glad I did.

There was no sunshine that day so these pics are all indoors...Darn "June Gloom"

I picked up three beauties  (3 for $15) and they are great.

First up is "Downtown LA", 2 coats of perfection.  This was a perfect Cherry Red creme. I wore this one immediately and I received a lot of compliments.

My pinkie is still growing out from a bad vertical split, its coming along, but still has a ways to go :)

The other two I grabbed were "Mount Royal" and "Passport Blue".

Mount Royal is a dark dusty periwinkle creme.  That's the best I can describe it.  This is 2 coats, but it was opaque in 1 coat, great formula, no drag no issues, applied nicely.

This is Passport Blue 2 coats, and again this could have been opaque in 1 coat. Its a dark dusty navy creme. Very unique color, so happy I grabbed it.

The pics make it look black but it is a definite dusty navy creme.

Have you grabbed any of these American Goodies?

More L.A. Colors

Hey Peeps-

Here are 5 more LA Colors, that are not in the "blue family"...I like to branch out every once in awhile and buy something that's NOT blue...ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!

Now I really like the value of these polishes, $1.....decent formula...nice colors...BUT sometimes the names just don't fit the polishes.

Here is "Phenomena"
2 coats
Dark Fuchsia, nice color, but nothing special. Phenomena....its NOT!

Here is "Electric Charge"
3 coats

Now this is a name that fits...WOW!
Bright Pink, almost neon but not quite..not bad! Now this name fits the color...NICE!

Here is "Electrified"
2 coats
Nice pink metallic. Glides on like a foil effect, real smooth, not bumpy like a glitter.  The name fits well!
Here is "Live"
2 coats
Nice silver metallic, glides on smoothly, not bumpy at all and it leaves no brush strokes. A good name here too!

Last is "Nuclear Energy"
3 coats
Nice purple jelly, but this is far from Nuclear.  3 coats was necessary on this one, but it dried to a nice shine, so that made up for the sheerness.

Whats your favorite nail polish name?

Neon Skittles and my summer mission!

I decided to do a Neon Skittle Mani with my "China Glaze Pool Side" colors.  I've been wearing the neon's on my toes and I LOVE them, but now its time to bring the neon's "up top"!

(l-r) China Glaze:
Pool Party
Flip Flop Fantasy (my favorite color)
Sun Worshipper
Towel Boy Toy (my favorite name)

Application is one coat of white polish, then two coats of the color.  All with 1 coat of CG Fast Forward Top Coat

Then I decided what if they were holo..Hmmmm!

BAM!
I topped each color with  Glam Nails "Rainbow"...this is a monumental occasion...we need HOLOGRAPHIC Neon colors, that's it!

We need to unite and bug the "bat shit" out of China Glaze  and tell them they need to combine their "Pool Side" collection and the "OMG" collection and give us Neon Holographic colors..That' s it!

I'm writing my email today...whose with me!

Deep Blue Sea

Okay back to my blues.  I did this swatch a while ago when my nails were shorter, but the colors are still just as pretty :)

NYC "Skin Tight Denim"
L'Oreal "Blue Metal"
I bought Blue Metal at the DT and I knew it had to be mine, what a find this one was!

But, when I got home I realized that Blue Metal had a twin?

Yeah, exact DUPES!  I could not tell them apart

S.T.D is on the index and the ring finger, Blue Metal is on the middle finger and the pinkie. 2 coats of each.

S. T. D. is at your local drugstore, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid for 99cents.

Neither gave me any issues, and both were $1, so you cant beat that right?

Electric Blue Boogie!

Don't ask me what the title means, I literally name these post after whatever pops in my head. LOL

I am determined to post about as many blues as I own so you'll be seeing a lot of blue post intermittently added to my blog....  and hold on to your bra straps...I have  A LOT of blues.:)

This was done when my nails were shorter and just growing out.  I like to cut my nails about twice to 3 times a year to start over and give them a break, that way I have fewer breaks and splits in between.

This is
China Glaze "Frost Bite"
Sally Hansen "Blue It"
L.A. Colors "Wired"
2 coats each
Frostbite is on the  Index and Ring finger.
Blue It is on the middle finger
Wired is on the pinkie
Frostbite leans more neon and is a lot more brighter than the other two.  Blue It is a great electric blue that stays true to its "Royal Blue Roots".  Wired is like the "in-between" between Frostbite and Blue It.

Its as if the two got together and had a baby ...a blue baby...LOL!

Wired had visible brush strokes, but still delivered on the color, not bad for a buck.

I definitely like Frostbite and Blue It the best!

Blue cremes and one Jelly

More blues you guessed it.

I did several post on "blues" two weeks ago and almost forgot about them

O.P.I.  "Dating a royal" (jelly)
O.P.I. "Suzi says Feng Shui"
L.A. Colors "Static Electricity"
O.P.I. " Ogre the top blue"
O.P.I. "No room for the blues"

3 coats of each
I could have done 2 coats of each, but "Dating a royal" was thin and definitely needed a third coat, so they all got third coats.

These nails are painted in the order of the bottle pics above, thumb to pinkie.

This pic is are more color accurate. But still a little darker, just a tad :)

They are all so different, I have to hand it to O.P.I., they may not have much quality control when it comes to "My Private Jet", but when it comes to variety they got it right.

Even though "Dating a Royal" was thin (I'll give it another shot later) I really liked it ans all the OPI cremes...but then again they are blue and I LOVE me some blues ya'll!

I think this blurry pics shows the richness in each color better, without distracting you with details :)

I was most surprised with "Static Electricity", even though the name does not suit it, it held its own against the big brothers of O.P.I.

Which one do you like most?

Swap Hauls and my new HOLO

I recently received two swap hauls . Here are my new pretties!!

I swapped with Karen D. of Frazzle and Anipolish

Karen contacted me because she saw on my blog that I was looking for the DT glitters and Sally Hansen's Opulent Cloud.

I needed the glitters for an international swap I was gathering for, and well Opulent Cloud, I just couldn't bloody find, so I was so giddy when she said she had them :):)

Then to top it off she added Millennium to the mix  (another polish on my list) and an extra packet of the black and silver glitters.....so happy!

Now since I had the glitters, I could complete my swap with Theresia from Amused Polish.

Here are the pretties Theresia sent me, are you ready?

What you ask? Whats the little silver bottle?...well I'll show you

Glam Nails "Rainbow"...its a light silver holo, I was so giddy to see this surprise, great choice Theresia.

I of course IMMEDIATELY put this baby on.

So pretty, this is 3 coats, this polish is sheer, but layers nicely with no drag, and dried quickly.

I wore it for 3 days before I begrudgingly took it off.

I love holographic polish because it gives you the best of both worlds, a nice metallic that delivers flashes of every color, it does not get much better than that!

After seeing this one, I KNOW I need to get Nfu-Oh 61...I need it as bad a a crack head needs a hit...yeah ...that bad!

Whats your favorite holographic polish?
