L'Oreal Miss Candy Limited Edition Gellie Collection 2013

Happy Monday!

Today I have some of the colors from the L'Oreal Miss Candy, Limited Edition Gellie Collection. I found these at my local Rite Aid, but I'm sure you will be spotting them at your local drugstores soon.

These colors are what we call "Jellies". This means they are not opaque without A LOT of coats. They typically are very colorful, but see-thru like "jelly", or "jello".  These type of colors are best when layered with other colors, flakies or glitters, and it gives the manicure a very bright and "squishy" look :)

I first saw the collection on"Project Swatch", she swatched 2 of the colors HERE.

Then at lunch I went to the drugstore, and there was the display, brand new and untouched. My dispaly included lip-glosses and eye-shadows too.   I grabbed all of the colors, except for the light pink and the light purple. Those are not my kind of colors. :)

All the swatches have the same order of coats (no top coat):

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

"Jolly Lolly"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

Please excuse the lines on my pinkie nail, I inherited them from my father, and they only occur on my pinkie, the other nails are "line-free" LOL.

This applied smoothly and streak free at even 1 coat.  The color is very much the color of red candy, bright, fresh and vibrant. My camera made the color more pink, but it is not pink in any way, it is a true lollipop red :)

"Mango Mamma"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

Great squishy orange jelly. Applied the same as the red. I love this one, and I plan on wearing it soon with my favorite gold glitter to create a super sparkly glitter sandwich. :)

"Bananarama Love"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

A softer banana creme yellow jelly.  I was hoping to love this one more, but I don;t :(  I actually had to apply it twice, because the first time my layers were to thick. Most jellies are best in thinner coats, so it doe not become heavy and goopy on the nail. I wish this was more vibrant, oh well.

"Creme de Mint"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

Oh nice! Soft spring green jelly. This reminds me of the drink "Grasshoppers", which are made of "creme de mint" liquor. :) I don't particularly lie the drink, but the color is very pretty and always reminds me of Spring.

Applied easily, no issues here.

"Miss Pixie"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

Electric blue jelly. You know I love my blues, but this one left me a bit sad. Only because it was streaky at 1 and 2 coats. but after the 3rd coat everything was fine :) I like the brighter blues and I can see myself using this to "Jelly UP" my favorite blue cremes.

"Berry Nice"

Index finger: 4 coats
Ring finger: 3 coats
Middle finger: 2 coats
Pinkie finger: 1 coat

Deep eggplant purple jelly. Sooo pretty in person, the bottle seems like the purple jelly goes on for DAYS! A little streaky in the first 2 coats (less streaky than the blue one), but after that it was perfect!

Overall, I'd grab "Jolly Lolly", "Mango Mamma", "Creme de Mint", Miss Pixie" and "Berry Nice", all of these are essential if you do not have any jelly polishes in your collection. MUST HAVES! The red is my personal favorite!

In the coming weeks  I'll show you how these look with my favorite glitters, flakies and cremes, when I create the perfect "jelly sandwiches" :)

L'Oreal "Owls Night"

When I first heard the buzz about this color, I didn't give it a second thought saying, "Okay...yeah...It sounds pretty".

Then I saw a pic, and I said "I need to find this", and then to make matters worse I saw on Once Bitten that it is a "near dupe" for Sally Hansen "Sequin Scandal"... (a color I seriously wanted). :P

So without any further delay...Owl's Night!

L'Oreal "Owl's Night"
2 coats

I love this color.  "Owl's Night" can best be described as a blackened espresso base with antique gold flecks (more gold than Sequin Scandal). Awesome!

Application was a bit tricky and it kept trying to pool into my cuticle area on the first coat.  the 2nd coat was " a cake walk", super easy and it layered nicely!

This color is part of the L'Oreal "Project Runway" Collection and can be found at drugstores, grocery stores and even some Bed Bath and Beyond stores. :)

I didn't care for the other colors, so I only purchased this bottle :)

Isn't this color perfect for fall?

Swap and my magnetic new manicure...

I did a swap with Marie at Mon Coin a Moua, and she sent me some great new polishes and A LOT of candy...it was all eaten within 8 hours....so yummy!

2 Catrices (I love these), MNY, another cool metallic red polish, mascara, perfume, and a P2 portable cuticle pen (that is seriously cool, I'm gonna need more of these).

And included in the swap was a lovely L'Oreal Star Magnet color in red....*faints*.

I was so excited to get this, but my excitement turned to delirious joy when I finally saw it on my nail....

Love, love, love!

This polish is SERIOUSLY the coolest thing Ive seen, I can't believe the companies won't release them in the USA...American companies can be soo lame sometimes! LOL!

Thanks Marie, you made my week :)

Deep Blue Sea

Okay back to my blues.  I did this swatch a while ago when my nails were shorter, but the colors are still just as pretty :)

NYC "Skin Tight Denim"
L'Oreal "Blue Metal"
I bought Blue Metal at the DT and I knew it had to be mine, what a find this one was!

But, when I got home I realized that Blue Metal had a twin?

Yeah, exact DUPES!  I could not tell them apart

S.T.D is on the index and the ring finger, Blue Metal is on the middle finger and the pinkie. 2 coats of each.

S. T. D. is at your local drugstore, CVS, Walgreens, and Rite Aid for 99cents.

Neither gave me any issues, and both were $1, so you cant beat that right?

Zoya Chopping Block: Part 3

Hello Pixy Stixs

Here we are again to review two more defendants in my "Zoya Chopping Block" swatch review.

I present Defendants #5 and #6, Borghese "Solaro Sunshine" and L'Oreal Jet Set Shine "Top 10 Tint".

"Solaro Sunshine"

Okay pixies what do you think? Solaro Sunshine is a lovely orange frost shimmer, I picked it up for $2 at Walgreens...yeah you read it right, 2 bucks!

Well let's first address the fact that this is 3 coats. I have a big rule about polishes, if I have to add more than 3 coats, its not gonna be for me. Well this passed that rule, but it was very streaky. Look at all those shimmer streaks...screaming like an airport runway lit up at midnight!

I love shimmer polish, but when the streaks from a shimmer polish stay on the nail after every brush stroke, kinda like the marks in the carpet left after you vacuum, It's not good.

Marks left behind when vacuuming ...GOOD, marks left behind "in nail polish"...BAD!

"Top 10 Tint"

This is a really pretty pink golden shimmer, that I picked up at the Dollar Tree for $1...fancy that..HA!

Okay, is it just me, or does this one remind you of Zoya's "Happi"...I don't have "Happi", and in fact that is one of the polishes I want to get from the exchange. Why? because it reminds me of pink grapefruits!

Now its time to address another obsession I have...GRAPEFRUIT...I love it, the taste the smell and any polish that reminds me of grapefruit or pink grapefruit, I'm all in!!!

Plus even though this was labeled as a "Tint", meaning sheer or just a top coat over another polish, it was nearly opaque in 2 coats ( I should have done 3) , You can't beat that with a pixy stix!

My verdict,..."Solaro Sunshine" is GUILTY, but "Top 10 Tint" is acquitted of all charges...it was a set-up I tell ya...LOL....."Top 10 Tint" can stay!!
