Not meant for film..

Happy Monday!! Don't forget to enter my ALL blue giveaway, it ends tomorrow at Midnight!

It is my firm belief that not ALL nail colors were meant to be photographed.

Such polishes are best appreciated in person and  Revlon's new "Top Speed" Nail Polish in "Royal" is exactly THAT polish.

Here it is 2 coats (should have done 3)

It's gorgeous, it's shiny, it's a jelly, and I love it.  The funny thing about this polish is that in person, and even in the sun there is NO Visible Nail Line (V.N.L.), but in the pics, its sooooo obvious!!! Anybody else experience this?

This color is gorgeous, I bought 2 bottles, so I can franken with one..this is an awesome color and worth the $5.99 price tag. I bought the first one, at CVS, received a coupon back for $5 off because I purchased this, and went back and bought another bottle....score! :):)

Katy and OPI: A dream come true!

I'm exhausted today, I had a late night last night playing Bunco with my friends and exchanging gifts, but mostly I'm exhausted over all the dupes that have been going around this year.

I mean, is it REALLY that hard to think of an original color? Maybe.... I don't know? Anyway, I hope these new Katy Perry colors don't disappoint, we really need some new life in nail industry!

Happy Friday !!!!

Katy’s Colors are Dreamy!

OPI Collaborates with Pop Icon Katy Perry to Launch Lacquer Collection

Katy Perry combines her love of music and nails to introduce a new line of lacquers with OPI, launching January 2011.  Inspired by Katy’s cutting edge style and latest album, Teenage Dream, the Katy Perry Collection by OPI will include four fierce, irresistible colors for nails and toes.
Complementing Katy’s already daring nail trends on and off the red carpet, a revolutionary Black Shatter™ formula will accompany the collection to create a ground-breaking cracked pattern when applied over each dried bright lacquer.

“We are thrilled to be teaming up with such a prominent pop music icon like Katy Perry,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “Katy is known world-wide for her innovative style and is always surprising us with her wild nail designs. When we learned about Katy’s love for lacquers, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to work together to create this glamorous collection.”
From alluring glitter to shiny luster, the four shades in the Katy Perry Collection by OPI include:

Teenage Dream
A dreamy pink glitter that you’re sure to crush on!

Not Like the Movies
This sultry silver is the real deal.

Last Friday Night
T.G.I.F. = This Glittery-blue Is Fierce!

 The One That Got Away
You always thought you’d marry this amazing deep berry.

The Katy Perry Collection by OPI will be available beginning January 2011, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($10.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

I heart Catrice!

If I could bring one over 1 foreign polish company tot he US, it would be Catrice!

I love the bottles, I love the formula, I love the colors, I love the names, I love it, I love it, I love it!!!

Clay-ton My Hero
3 coats, topped with Seche Vite.

Gorgeous, yellow toned taupe with a demure golden shimmer.  Loves it!!! Do the Happy Dance!

I love ANY polish that has "hidden shimmer", you know...that kind of shimmer that only shows up when you are in direct light...love it!

So tell me if you could bring over ANY foreign brand to your "neck of the woods"..which brand would it be?

This color reminds me of China Glaze "Ingrid"..I may have to re-swatch this and compare the two :)

Me and Zoya are not friends today....

I love Zoya polish, in fact I adore it!  The cute little bottles, the amazing colors, the constant availability, its an awesome brand!!!

..but the fact that this polish requires its own topcoat SUCKS!

Yasmeen
2 coats,  1 coat of China Glaze Fast Forward on top.

Pretty isn't it, gorgeous purple with a great shimmer, actually this color is awesome..but look closer!

Major F'in shrinkage! >:(  This sucks, I'm sorry Zoya, but the fact that your polish does not "play well with others" bites the big one, seriously! I'm prepared for Seche Vite to cause shrinkage, and now my lovely China Glaze is on the "shrink list".

I know that certain TC's have a certain chemical that does not react well with ZOYA...blah,. blah, blah, but seriously...seriously!?

See...I buy ALL my polish, I don't get anything for free, so having to buy their own topcoat, at a hefty price, just to make this work, simply sucks!!!

I immediately went home and took this off, I was sooo mad!  Yes I know what you guys are saying, I will eventually have to break down and pay $48 for the "Zoya Color Lock System", but that royally blows!!!!

The fact that I have to spend almost $50 to use polish I already own and continue to HAVE TO buy the system, sucks even more.SUUUUCCKKKSSS!

Does anyone know another top coat (that doesn't cost $48) I can use that will NOT shrink my Zoya manicures?? Please let me know!

H&M: Happy Grey

Earlier I put this color on my niece, but now its my turn.

I decided to do 2 coats of "Happy Grey" by H&M and hen topped it off with 1 coat of China Glaze "Fairy Dist"..I topped this off with 1 coat f Seche Vite and I was off! :)

I was inspired by the look Katy Perry wore for her Perfume press conference in November.

Pic from socialitelife.

So simple and so pretty!

next time I'll use 2 coats of fairy dust to give it that truly "fairy dust" look.  This was my first time using "Fairy Dust", I can't believe I've waited so long to use it :)

My First Franken: Computer Blue

Yep, I finally did it, my first franken and it was a frickin nerve wracking process, seriously, I've never been so nervous in my life. :)

Scandalously Polished was my inspiration, she is a FRANKEN QUEEN *bows down*, she makes such great frankens, so I had to try at least ONCE...;)

So my goal was to make a blue holo, did I succeed? you tell me?

I have to admit this "creation" process was fun (after I was done of course)!

Next time I'll test my colors on a piece of foil "drop-by-drop" before I start to mix in the bottle like ABOP suggested, that way I will have some idea what color it will turn out to be..and it won't be a complete mystery!

I love it, I was shooting to recreate China Glaze DV8, and I think I came pretty damn close!!

Not a dupe, but it makes me happy! :)

Here is the recipe:
OPI "Blue Moon Lagoon" (an old Holo in my new giveaway)
"Turquoise"sheer jelly by "Mavira International" (Very strong color. Got this at the nail show)
Nfu-Oh #61 (to boost the holo)
Essence "Caribbean Sea" (this was to give it the same color and a little more opaqueness)

Because it was my first franken, I didn't really keep count, but I used mostly the OPI and the "Turquoise Jelly"

And because I love Prince, I've decided to name all my frankens after his songs, so this one is "Computer Blue" Hee hee.... LOL...Happy Friday!!!

Zoya Valerie and 675

675 followers, wow!! Don't you guys have day jobs? LOL...no seriously, thank you to everyone for checking me out, I'm so embarrassed and proud :):)Okay back to the polish...

Gorgeous dark plum from the Flame Collection.

In the bottle it has a great golden shimmer, but that didn't show up on my nails :(, just the gorgeous deep plum shimmer that you have all seen, so here it is again! :):)

Zoya "Valerie"
3 coats

I cut my nails again, yeah I know most "nail-heads" refuse to voluntarily cut their nails, but I think darker colors look better on shorter nails, so I cut them..:) LOL!

The camera really pulls out the blue and red shimmer in this polish, because normally it looks like this...

Sorry for the blurry pic, but the color indoors, outside and threw the camera lens are totally different, but I must confess, I wanted so much more out of this color, it just didn't wow me, like I thought it would.

Maybe it will look better on longer nails? LOL! :)

I had to post this shot, the box came out so pretty and I love ANYTHING grapefruit...these are at my local DT so I bought 10 boxes...yummy!!!

Swarovski earrings !!

So I have another jewelry post for you.  :)

Whenever I read my magazines and see something I like, want to make, or purchase, I flag the page with a post it.  Then I keep the magazine, and photo copy or rip out the page before I throw it away.  Sometimes I save these clippings in file folders for months or years until I actually remember to make them...then the hunt begins! :):)

These earrings I saw in my InStyle magazine and marked the page, went back, ripped the page out, and looked up the earrings and the designer online.

These are very simple, 35 cts. Swarovski crystals, wire wrapped in solid 14kt gold on gold hooks.

I found the designer online and emailed them to get the exact measurements of the stones, to make sure I knew exactly the size stone to look for.

The stones are 2 3/4" long and approx/ 1/2" wide at the widest point of the oblong.

I usually wear silver, so I decided to make mine out of sterling silver instead.  I ordered my stones online, because I really like the topaz color (topaz is my birth stone)  and the sterling silver wire and ear hooks, well, I already had that so this was going to be easy.

This was the easiest pair of earrings I ever made, just wrap the stone in wire on the top (starting with a loop) then continue down and back up, cut it and that was it.....

I opted for a crystal that was not topaz colored but more champagne colored, a shade lighter than the version in the magazine...the lighter shade sparkled better in the light. :)

Look how it sparkles!

So you want to know my total...I hope your sitting down. :)

The stones were $3.90 each x 2 = $7.80
The wire used was $5.00 each x 2 = $10.00
The silver ear hooks 50 cent each x 2 = $1.00

The whole project took maybe 15 minutes and that was it. $18.80, under $20.00 bucks, need I say more?

Now if I made this in gold (exactly like the magazine) then the price would approx. be double for the wire and the ear hooks, so average $29.80 for the gold version...a long cry from $375.00. (this price is based off of gold prices at the time I made the earrings...several years ago)

Just another reason why I make jewelry instead of buying it, when I can.  I get all my inspiration from magazines, celebrity photos of jewelry they wear, and catalogs... and when I can make it for less...honey please...I love a challenge. :):)

Have a great day! :):)

Nfu-Oh 52....that's all!

I love Nfu-Oh just like everyone else, and when you use it in layered manicures it awesome, but what about on its own?

I decide to use a nude base and just #52 and the results were awesome, simple, gorgeous, and lovely!

1 coat of Sally Hansen "Cinnamon" and 2 coats of #52.

I used Seche Vite as my top coat because this manicure was so thick I needed to make sure it dried nicely and quickly.  Seche Vite did cause some shrinkage on my tips and around the top edge, but it dried the polish nicely.

Purple jelly with green and blue flakies...lovely!

Gorgeous, and for the record since this manicure I have done my "winter cuticle treatment" and my cuticles no longer look like I've been digging in dirt...LOL! :)

I wore this manicure for 4 days, and I dreaded taking it off, it was so pretty! :)

Zoya: Cheryl

I hesitated getting this one, because I never feel browns look good on my skin, but this one reminded me of warmed cognac or icy root beer...awesomeness!

Zoya
"Cheryl" 3 coats

I topped this one with I.N.M's "Out the door", its a very good top coat, and does not cause shrinkage like Seche Vite, but lacks delivering the shine and leveling ability of "Seche Vite".

It's gorgeous, it shimmers and shines and only required 2 coats but I did 3 just in case.  I didn't buy the entire collection that this color was released in, but I grabbed 4 from this release...and I am not disappointed one bit.

I have to say since doing the blog, I am more prone to do 3 coats than my usual 2.  I have to admit it does make a difference in most polishes, in that the 3rd coat delivers the bottle color.

I'm holding my Neosporin container cover, as I had a nasty cut on my thumb and I use this religiously on all cuts! :)
