JulieG Collection by Jesse's Girl: Swatches

"Everyone knows that well-manicured nails are the perfect complement to any outfit. So just like you transition your wardrobe from summer to fall, the same should be done with the polish colors you’ll be sporting in the upcoming season. To stay on-trend without breaking the bank, do your nails at home with polishes from the JulieG Collection by Jesse’s Girl Cosmetics! Created by nail guru Julie Gutierrez (aka JulieG 713 on YouTube), you’ll be rocking a fashion-forward manicure until the last leaves fall from the trees. "

JulieG
"Metallic Heels"
2 coats, no top coat

Very pretty and stunning gold foil.  If you like Essie "Good As Gold", you'll love this, and it is way cheaper at $3.99.

JulieG
"Stiletto"
2 coats, no top coat

"Stiletto" is a a taupe creme with added silver/white shimmer.  The shimmer is very subtle, which makes this taupe creme very nice, in my opinion. I love subtle shimmer. :)

JulieG
"Dance In The Dark"
2 coats, no top coat

This shimmery blue is shiny and pretty, and super pigmented! I was hoping that the purple shimmer in the bottle would show on the nail  but it did not. Here are the bottle shots. :)

Isn't that purple shimmer gorgeous!

Overall all 3 colors applied nice. They dried in a regular dry time and were smooth, and gave me no issues with bald spots or streaking.  These are great polishes and for $3.99 each, they are worth grabbing a couple.

My personal favorite IS NOT the blue *shocking*, it actually is "Metallic Heels". I love foils because they dry fast, deliver high shine, and are great as a base color for glitters and half moon manicures.  Foils are the perfect manicure for an "out the door manicure , that is when you have to do a quick manicure ad run "out the door", LOL :)

"Hopeful- Hot Pink"
A Hello Kitty meets bubble gum shade.
2 coats, no top coat

My poor camera, it went bananas for this hot pink creme! My pictures make this color look super electric  but it is not, it is just vibrant bubble gum creme in person, trust me. :) Opaque in 2 coats, no application issues, just pink goodness. :)

"Nurture- Nude Pink"
A damsel-in-distress, barely there beautiful.
3 coats, no top coat

This is a baby pink polish, that took 3 coats to make opaque due to a little streaking. The polish was smooth and applied well, no pooling or drag issues. There is a great shimmer in the polish, that does not show up in the pictures, but is evident in person. :)

Here is a bottle shot so you can see the bright pink shimmer :)

"Purity- Pink"
A ballet slipper, sheer hue
3 coats, no top coat

This color is a sheer light baby pink and ultra feminine!  If you like a just a hint of wispy pink on your hands, this is it! :) The color applied well, and there was no issues with drag or pooling.

OPI "So So Skullicious" Swatches

Halloween night is only 1 week away, are you getting excited yet? I am.   I love walking my niece and nephew around the neighborhood, and make jokes with the other adults and parents, its fun! The cooler of beer we cart around in a little red wagon doesn't hurt either, LOL :)

OPI has released this super cute mini set with fun Halloween colors and water decals in a "Dia de los Muertos" theme, that can make your manicure a lot of fun!

Left to Right: "Hi Pumpkin!", "A-Rose from the Dead", "Mourning Glory", and "Candlelight".

Aren't the cute little mini bottles cute? I decided to do a simple french tip manicure using all the colors. I started off with 2 coats of color for each nail, and then I waited for it to dry before I added the tipped colors :)

All of the colors were easy to work with EXCEPT..you guessed it) the Yellow! It was a super struggle to get it to apply without "streaks" and "bald spots". Eeeekk!

Traditionally the colors in the OPI Halloween sets are core colors used in earlier collections or fro their core line, just renamed. I'm not sure which colors these are, but I love the cute little bottles and the even cuter names. .

I didn't apply the water decals, because I wanted to show you how festive and perfect these colors were on their own. :) A little color goes a long way!

“Rather than simply be spooky this Halloween, OPI has created colors that are full of life,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director.  “So So Skullicious features vivid colors and fun nail decals that offer the perfect way to get festive for the holiday, whether you’re looking for a little way to show Halloween spirit, or planning to get decked out from head to nails and toes!”

Each nail lacquer shade in this set contains no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. So So Skullicious will be available now for a limited time, at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $12.50 ($14.95 CAN) suggested retail for each mini pack.

Okay this glitter was not my favorite from the collection, but paired with these OPI's has skyrocketed it to the top of my list! I LOVED this manicures, definitely one of my favorite manicures yet!

Because the Sonoma Glitter has such great colors of green grey and silver in it, I really wanted to find an array of base colors that would compliment it, so I did a gradient hand and the slapped the glitter in top of them all! :)

I did the same gradient on the right hand but in the opposite order...

"Here Lies Robert" is a great color, very dark, and creepy! :) This is the only polish with a clear base, and it has squares, hexagons, diamonds and bar glitter. All in a variety of shades of black, grey, bright green, moss green, silver and gold. It reminds me of zombie flesh.  :P

UPDATE 10/24/12 9:11am : It is still available now on her etsy site HERE

The glitter was very smooth and went on with no issues. I did not have to "place" any of the glitter on my nails, best glitter application by far, hands down!  Here are some pics in indirect light.

OPI Announces Brand’s First International Short Film

Instinct of Color!

OPI pays hommage to its Culture of Color with the international launch of its first branded film. Set to the French DJ band C2C’s “Down the Road,” the video features a surrealistic dance-off between four female dancers and a gorgeous Thoroughbred, as trained by equestrian stuntmaster Mario Luraschi.

Named after OPI’s classic black nail lacquer, Lady in Black (known as Black Onyx in North America) brought to the film a repetoire of moves including tap steps and dancing en pointe, while showcasing bestselling OPI colors on her hooves.

The film’s four featured lacquers – Pink-ing of YouRed My Fortune CookieNeed Sunglasses? and No Room for the Blues – each represent one style of dance and one overarching theme, illustrating OPI nail lacquer as a means of self-expression.

“I always say that nail lacquer can change your look – and your outlook,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP and Artistic Director. “Today, nail color can convey feelings and emotions, expressing on the outside what the wearer is feeling on the inside. In this short film, four women communicate through dance and color. With a trained Thoroughbred who could replicate the dancers’ moves with very little digital enhancement,  we were able to capture the unique, energetic and creative culture that epitomizes the OPI brand.”

The video launches worldwide on October 24, 2012. Please visit OPI on YouTube

Nicole by OPI Introduces Six NEW Kardashian Kolor Holiday Glitter and Shimmer Lacquers

Yep! It's time for the all of the holiday collections to come out, and the Kardashian Holiday Collection is next in the line-up!

I didn't have much sun this past weekend, so some pictures are with flash, some are outdoors in a little bit of sun, and some are in indirect light to show the details in the glitter.  :)

First Up...

"Keeping Up with Santa"
1 coat, no top coat
Indoor with flash

I couldn't believe how perfect it was in 1 coat, AMAZING!!!

This is a very pretty red cream with a subtle hot pink shimmer, and 1 coat, can't beat that with a stick. Super saturated color!   It reminds me of OPI "The Color of Minnie", I'll have to do a comparison later. :)

"Kardashing Through The Snow"
2 coats, no top coat.
Indoor with flash

Very cool red, green and blue glitter in a clear base.. Very opaque in 2 coats, coverage and application was easy. This would be great over any color or on it's own in 3 coats. I love this for the holidays!

"A Gold Winter's Night"
2 coats, no top coat
Indoor with flash

The soft pink tinted base is a nice touch, this added color sets it apart from most glitters.

Outdoors in overcast

Outdoors in indirect light

This is very unique! Pink tinted base with pink glitter, and gold and turquoise blue bar glitter! Easy to apply , and it went on smoothly with no issues. This would be awesome over a gold foil base nail polish color. :)

"All Is Glam, All Is Bright"
2 coats, no top coat
Indoors with flash

This is 2 coats and perfectly opaque, I love it! Silver, blue and red fine glitter, and it is not very gritty either. Applied smoothly and was not too thick or goopy. This is great by itself, but I think it is too opaque to be used on top of another color.

Outside in overcast

"Here We Kome A-Karoling"
2 coats, no top coat
Indoors with flash

Outdoors in the sun..yep the sun came out for a peek :)

Bright grape cream with purple and blue shimmer. It is sooo pretty!

"Deck the Dolls"
2 coats, no top coat
Outside in the sun

Indoor with flash

This color is a bright teal shimmer, it is not a terribly unique color, but pretty. Opaque in 2 coats. The formula was different on this color, it was more watery and harder to control, but I still managed to get clean lines in 2 coats

Overall, I like the glitters the best. All of the colors applied smoothly and were easy to apply, I only had some trouble with the teal shimmer. Most of the creams and shimmers are not that unique, and if you have a decent polish collection, you probably already have colors like these.  The glitters are fantastic!  Get the glitters, they are so pretty!!!!
