Pretty and Polished Christmas 2012 Collection: Selected Swatches and Review

Hello everyone, are you ready for some new goodies from Pretty and Polished?  I know I am!

Left to Right: "Everybody loves Penguin", "Pretty As A Peacock", and "Love Always, Candy Cain".

Chels over at Pretty and Polished has done it again, and she sent me 3 colors from her new collection to show you :) She is being showcased now on my sidebar (to the right) as my "Candy Shop of the Month" :)

If you want to know more about Pretty and Polished check out their BLOG, Facebook page, and Etsy store for the latest!

Pretty & Polished
"Everybody Loves Penguin"
 3 coats, no top coat

Bottle shot.

"Everybody Loves Penguins" is a white jelly base polish with large and medium black hexagon glitter and smaller yellow metallic glitter.  I love white based polishes  and I love the penguin colors and theme, perfect for the winter months! :)

The formula was super easy to work with, but I did not get as much glitter on the nail as I would have liked. I think this is due to the mini-bottle and how small the brush is compared to the size and weight of the glitter.  I did NOT fish out any glitter for this one, so what you see on my nail, is what I got when I brushed it on :)

"Pretty & Polished
"Pretty As A Peacock"
 3 coats, no top coat

Bottle shot.

Sooo pretty! "Pretty As A Peacock" has a dark green base packed with purple, teal, green and blue glitters. This polish is so multi-faceted and colorful, how can you not love it!  This gave me no application issues., went on easily, and in 3 coats it was opaque. It does dry with a tiny bit of glitter texture, so 1 coat of top coat is necessary to make it super smooth and shiny. :)

Here are some pics of it in in-direct light...

I love the depth!

Pretty & Polished
"Love Always, Candy Cain"
2 coats over color, no top coat

This is 2 coats of glitter, over China Glaze "Re-Fresh Mint".

"Love Always, Candy Cain", is a clear based polish with red and white hexagons, red and white hearts and smaller red and white glitter...it's a holiday love fest !!!! I love pairing this color over the lighter green, it's gives you the minty flavor of the holidays...they're a comin!

Bottle shot.

The glitter base was smooth and easy to apply, but I still had the same problems of applying the larger hexagons and the hearts with the smaller mini-brush. It was hard getting the larger glitter to stick and stay on the little mini-brush, I think they were too heavy :(

Because the smaller glitter applied well, I don't think you would have any "glitter application" problems with a full sized bottle and brush.

Here are some shots in in-direct light to showcase the glitter detail

YUM! After this manicure I just had to do another. I call it "Peppermint Bark"! :)

This is 2 coats of OPI "Get In The Expresso Lane", topped with 2 coats of glitter :)

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of chocolate, but when you pair it with PEPPERMINT (which I love), I'm all over it!

Again, check out Pretty and Polished on their BLOGFacebook page, and Etsy store for the latest and greatest!  Thanks to Chels for sending me these colors for review.  They are so cute and unique, good job!

Keep It Minty-Sweet!

Pretty and Polished "Midnight Rider"

Today I have another beauty from Pretty and Polished, "Midnight Rider".

Because the base is a bit sheer, I layered this over another color that has the same undertones, but would not change the overall color of the manicure.  I have seen posts of it layered over black and o it's own in 3 coats, and it is stunning either way! :P

I applied 1 coat of OPI "Funky Dunkey" and 2 coats of "Midnight Rider".

I'm super happy with the way this turned out, it looks great! Midnight Rider has a perfect deep purple base with purple and red hex and square glitter.  There is also a lot of micro-glitter and silver and holographic glitter, so this is a glitter festival! :)

This glitter was NOT a top coat monster and was easy to make smooth with my usual top coat application.

Chelsea really did a fabulous job creating this beauty. I loved it, and application was really easy, for a glitter. Between glitter coats, I waited about 2 minutes, so that any glitter applied from the 1st coat would not be removed by the swipe of my 2nd coat. :)

This manicure lasted me 4 days, and that was only because it was dull, not because it chipped! It was still intact and ready to go for 4 more days! Great job on this one Chels!

If you want to grab this color, go to Chelsea's Etsy shop, Pretty and Polished, HERE.  She may be out of it now, but she will re-stock soon, I'm sure! :)

Keep it sweet !

Pretty & Polished "Party on my Yacht"

Hey ya'll! :)

Today I have a treat for you.  Today I will be sharing an amazing polish I recently purchased from Chelsea at Pretty & Polished, if you don't know?...you better know!!! :)

Pretty & Polished
"Party on my Yacht" 2 coats over 1 coat of Zoya "Snow White".

Because this was my first time wearing PomY, I was not sure if it was opaque in 2 coats, so I layered it over the Zoya.  But I should have known, Chelsea knows her polish, and it is certainly opaque in 2 coats *head smack* :)

Chelsea says this, "Named "Party on my Yacht" because of the gorgeous champagne colored sparkles and brightly colored "summer shore" colors. This gorgeous polish goes on a bit sheer with one coat but with two you have full coverage! Easy to apply, easy to tame, and always gorgeous!"

Because I layered 2 coats over Zoya, it caused tiny little bubbles, but next time PomY is going solo!!!! I wore this manicure for 4 days, no chips and I hated taking it off!

You can get PomY at Pretty & Polished on Etsy :), or click my link, in the sidebar, on the right. This color is super easy to apply, no issues and it dries nice and smooth, so this glitter IS NOT a "top coat eating monster"...LOL :)

Look at That! Champagne gold, pink, purple and green glitter with added blue bar glitter! Gorgeous!

It's like a party in a bottle! Oh how I loved this manicure, so cute and so fun for Spring! I think I have a new favorite!!!!

Happy Friday!

Etsy Shop: Pretty and Polished

Chelsea of Pretty and Polished gave two of her awesome creations to show you today!

Emphasis on AWESOME!!!!

First up...

"Razz"
2 coats, no top coat.

Razz is a great rose colored glitter with purple and green glitter added and it is seriously unique and pretty!

Isn't this simply gorgeous! These pics are just 2 coats, but you can layer it over a similar base color that is a shimmer or cream and obtain a more saturated manicure, although I prefer it just like it is...GORGEOUS!

Next up, is a real stunner...

"Jealous"

This is Chelsea's magical top coat, that once layered over any other color turns it into something seriously special...check it out!

I layered "Jealous" over theses colors:

Left to Right: Rimmel "Black Satin", Nicole by OPI "Too Rich For You", Orly "Out Of This World" and OPI "Alpine Snow".

Are you ready? :P

Here they are with 1 coat of "Jealous" added on top!

Awesome, right? Yeah I was amazed how great it made these already fabulous colors, especially the first 3 colors!!!!

"Jealous" over the Rimmel (black creme).

"Jealous" over the NOPI (darkened teal shimmer).

"Jealous" over the Orly (deep purple shimmer).

AWESOME, great job Chelsea!!!

Left to Right: 1 coat of "Jealous" over, Rimmel "Black Satin", Nicole by OPI "Too Rich For You", Orly "Out Of This World" and OPI "Alpine Snow".
