RIHANNA ROCKS AN EZFLOW AND IBD MOON MANICURE

Stunning Nails For A Stunning Performance

Los Angeles, CA – (April 2011): For her show stopping performance of “California King Bed” on American Idol, Rihanna decided that she wanted a moon manicure with a just a little drama. So the night before her performance, celebrity manicurist  Kimmie Kyees arrived at Rihanna’s house and went to work. She put down a layer of Ez Flow Gelez Buff (a subtle, shimmery nude gel polish) first and then added a vibrant coat of ibd Red Velvet Gelac (deep, shimmery maroon gel polish) on top. Rihanna absolutely loved the shade of red! She exclaimed that it was “gorgeous” when Kimmie opened up the bottle to show her the color. She kept her jewelry and accessories minimal and only wore statement rings to compliment her gel manicure.

Rihanna is a huge fan of gel polish, which Kyees uses on her all the time because it stays flawless for so long! They’re perfect for a girl who is always on the go, just like her.

Orange you glad its Monday!

LOL!! I love "Orange" jokes, they are sooo predictable, but they ALWAYS make you smile!

Today I have a Walmart classic, "Lava" by Hard Candy, 2 coats

Awesome, bright red-orange glitter goodness.  I've had this polish for   over a year and this is my first time wearing it...and man it does not disappoint!

The glitter in Lava seems to glow more to a golden hue, simply gorgeous! and super easy to apply.

Isn't the ring cute?!

Look at that glitter "glow"..gorgeous!  I've only worn two Hard Candy colors "Lava" and "Mr. Wrong" and I love them both!

With a snap of my fingers....

...wallah, I had 2  new brushes!

Recently I purchased 2 new colors from the OPI Texas Collection and the brushes were really jacked up..LOL :)

I recalled reading on the MUA board, how you could email OPI and ask for replacement brushes.  So, I went to the OPI website and filled out their online form, and requested 2 new replacement brushes.

I did not get an email response, but I received 2 days later was better...2 new brushes with instructions in the mail...SCORE!  I had to give the mail carrier the additional 78 cents, since there was not enough postage on the package, I'm sure this was a mistake :)

Here they are in 2 pieces, with instructions on how to put them together :) Here is the new top...

Here is the replacement pro wide brush...

You have to put the brush into the bottle, then crew on the top and that's it...Thanks OPI for making this as painless as possible! :)

Snakes!!!!!!

This past fall, dusty green/gold foils were in! Every color reminded me of snakeskin, so when I finally got my hands on one named "Snakeskin", I knew I had to compare them all.

So here are 4 of the ones I collected!

2 coats: Zoya "Edyta", Diamond Cosmetics "Never so evergreen", Funky Fingers "Snakeskin", S-he "466"

No "real" issues with either formula. Zoya and Diamond Cosmetics were flawless, and the other 2 were thin on the first coat, but the 2nd coat covered perfectly. :)

The Zoya and The DC are really similar, but the Zoya had a bit more shimmer and foil effect.

I am in love with the FF "Snakeskin", so silvery and greenish, so cool looking :) The S-he is very neat too, because it has great "hidden shimmer", It is a milky olive creme with hidden "goldish shimmer", in the sun it's awesome!

Ugggh, this color is so pretty! I love how this color was so popular last fall/winter, but instead of giving us 4 fabulous dupes, we got 4 totally different versions of the same idea...awesome!

I know color club has a similar color and so did Nubar :)

Do you have any of these beauties? Or do you have one of the others that are along the same lines?

L's Challenge

I got this tag from L, and I was all up for it until "fate" choose my colors :(

The rules:

1. go to your lacquer stash
2. CLOSE your eyes and pull 3 random items - JUST 3

Okay so I did this and got China Glaze "Octa Gone Wild", Essie "Shelter Island" and Finger Paints "Sapphire Shimmer" and I am not happy I choose them....AT ALL! !

Honestly my first blind choices included my Holo version MPJ, but there is NO WAY, I'm doing a "blind manicure" with that beauty, so I  put it back and "blindly" choose the Essie ;)

3. Create a mani from them
4. Post your mani when you post the tag

YUCK!!!!!!

YUCK, YUCK, YUCK!

5. Tag 3 bloggers
Barb from Biba's Beauty Corner, , ABOP from Another Bottle of Polish?, and  Varnish Vixen

Have at it ladies :)...it's bound to be better than mine..LOL! :)

OPI Russian Navy Suede vs. China Glaze Midnight Mission

At first thought these 2 wouldn't seem like dupes, but with a little Matte Magic and a top coat, these 2 beauties are definite kissin cousins.

2 coats: Left to Right: OPI "Russian Navy Suede", China Glaze "Midnight Mission", OPI, China Glaze

So to give them an even playing field I added a little Matte Magic to the China Glaze "Midnight Mission".

Left to Right: OPI, China Glaze, OPI, China Glaze.  These 2 are really close, right?

So if you have always wanted the OPI, grab the China Glaze and put a matte top coat on top...it should cure your OPI craving :)

Now let's see what happens when you add a top coat to both...

Left to Right: OPI, China Glaze, OPI, China Glaze.

Not bad ..ehh? the OPI is a brighter blue and has more sparkle, but the China Glaze does not disappoint, gorgeous dark blue sparkling goodness!

So tell me, would this cure your lemming for OPI "Russian Navy Suede"?

Comparison: OPI Sapphires In The Snow and her twin sisters :)

Okay, so I was going thru all my fall/winter colored polishes (putting them away for spring/summer) and I discovered  I had Zoya "Pinta" and I had Diamond Cosmetics "Crushed Velvet".  I realized both of them looked alike.

Later I finally got my hands on OPI "Sapphires In The Snow" thru a swap on MUA, and I said..."I've seen this color before?"...LOL! :)

Here they are...all 2 coats, no top coat, can you tell which, is which?

Yep..I'd say they are near dupes!

Even fuzzy they still look alike...are you tired of guessing?

Left to Right: OPI "Sapphires In The Snow", Zoya "Pinta", and Diamond Cosmetics "Crushed Velvet".

The formulas on all three were perfect. No issues, just perfect, near dupes! The OPI does lean just a tad bit more blue, a tad, but the difference is sooo sooo small! (almost unnoticeable)

Obviously the OPI is HTF, so if you have the Zoya or the Diamond Cosmetics, you are good to go.  Obviously the Diamond Cosmetics is the best dupe, since it is cheaper at $2.50 per bottle versus Zoya's $8....but both are near dupes of the OPI! PERFECT!!

Oh and all 3 formulas dry SUPER SHINY! All pics have a base coat but NO TOPCOAT!

OPI, Zoya, Diamond Cosmetics, OPI.

I guess the reason I ended up buying this color 3 times, is because this is a great dark eggplant-blue based purple without being black...so pretty! I love it!

Do you have either of these beautiful cremes?

More Swap and Haul Pics...

April over at Concrete and Nail Polish, set up a great shop called Medusa's Threads, selling fashion and polish ( 2 of a girl's favorite things), she still has some of these great colors up for sale, at a very reasonable price ( my opinion), Go HERE

I also grabbed from Medusa Threads,China Glaze "OMG", and from a recent swapon MUA, "L8R G8R".

So now I have all of the Kaleidoscope Collection EXCEPT for "Visit Me In Prisms", I'll have to go to evil bay to get that one :)

OPI "Too Hot Pink To Hold'em", "Ya'll come back ya hear" and my first Cult Nails "Living Water" *drooling*

In a recent swap with a lovely reader Terni, she gave me *hold on to your hats* OPI "Merry Midnight", MAC "Bad Fairy", Pure Ice "Purple Reign", and China Glaze "Eyes like Sapphires"...my head is still spinning from this swap :):)

I grabbed Orly "Royal Velvet" at Sally's, and China Glaze "Doll House" was an extra from April.

Now on to the Zoyas...

I grabbed "Rica" and "Reva" from the sunshine collection ( I should have grabbed "Faye" too) and then "Phoebe" from the Mod Matte Collection ( I need to get the other 2, too) :)

I grabbed the entire Summertime Collection, because I love Zoya cremes :):) LOVE THEM!!!!

Boy have I been busy...did you grab anything from Aprils store or from Zoya?
