Having fun with Born Pretty!

Happy Friday!

Nail art is all the rage right now, and I have some fun nail guides from Born Pretty that will make nail art a little easier.

For the first manicure, I used Sally Hansen "Mellow Yellow" (the old version), and Butter London "Jack The Lad".

First I painted my nails with the yellow, two coats and I let them dry completely. Then I applied the nail guides, "French Manicure Wave Edge Tip Guides" , to the tips of the nails, with a small edge of nail left visible.

Painted the darker color on the edge, and after a minute, I carefully removed the guide.

I did a little cleanup after I removed the guide, and the manicure was perfect and amazingly easy.

Next....

"Mellow Yellow" and Shimmer Polish "Jasmine" and "Practical French Manicure Wave Edge Tip Guides"

Unfortunately, removing these guides from the sheet were not easy, and several of them ripped at the point. I used tweezers to remove each guide, but a couple ripped :(

But I managed to get a couple of them off the sheet safely to complete the manicure.

The glitter didn't work out the best, but you can see that with the guides you can get a clean line, without all the fuss. :)

Both nail sheets are a great deal at $1.58 a sheet.  I would suggest gently using tweezers to remove the stickers from the sheet, in order to make sure you get the guide off in one piece. My favorite is the french manicure wave edge, it's clean and easy and delivers a great smooth arch for your nail art.

Why do I love Coterie?...because of Butter London!!!!

I finally swatched the Butter Londons I received from Coterie.  Coterie is a a website that offers quality beauty products for a fraction of the price. The sales are only open for a limited time, so once "the store opens", you have to log on and purchase before they are all gone :)

Back to my beauties :)  I almost forgot about them because they were tucked neatly away in a box in the corner of my stash. Ooopps ... No worries I freed them this weekend and here they are....:)

Left to Right: West End Wonderland, Knackered, Pillar Box Red, and Matte Finish Top Coat.

"West End Wonderland"
2 coats of color. Pinkie and ring finger have Matte Finish top coat applied.

Above: No top coat.

Above: 1 coat of Matte Finish top coat. This is a great fine gold glitter with small specks of copper and orange. Easy to apply and dries with a very fine grit, nothing 2 coats of top coat couldn't fix :) . Although I do see some very slight VNL, 3 coats and this will be perfect, and boy does it dazzle!  :)

"Knackered"
Index and middle finger have 1 coat of black creme and 1 coat of "Knackered". Ring finger and pinkie have 3 coats of "Knackered".

Above: "Knackered" over black.

Above: 3 coats of "Knackered".

In indirect light.  I love the way it looks! :)

Then I applied Matte Finish top coat...

Now in indirect light (with Matte top coat)...

Swoon! Knackered is a super sheer green/purple duo-chrome with holographic sparkles. This is definitely too sheer to wear on its own, but over another color WOW! I am in love with Knackered over darker colors! I can't wait to see it over a dark green!:)

"Pillar Box Red"
2 coats of color. Pinkie and ring finger have Matte Finish top coat applied.

Above: 2 coats

Above: Middle finger is 2 coats, ring and pinkie are 2 coats topped with Matte Finish. :)

I love this red, it is a true pillar box (phone booth) red, creamy and perfect! :)

Overall, Butter London is a superb brand. Their polishes offer excellent quality and are easy to apply and control.  I am very happy with my Coterie order, each color is exactly what I wanted and I especially love how large my Matte Finish top coat is, this will last me a long time :)

Butter London "Bluey"

What can I say about this color that the pictures won't tell you...Okay I won't....

Butter London
"Bluey"
3 coats, double top coat (the usual). I also used Orly "Bonder" over my usual base coat, because I wanted to make this beauty LAST! 4 days no chips...Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!

"Bluey" is on the thin side, so I knew I could get away with 3 coats, without it looking like 3 coats.  Every time I added a layer, I loved it more and more. :)

*swoon*, this is the 2nd best Butter London purchase I made.  The first was their metallic red "Knees Up"...that names still makes me giggle! hee hee :)

No matter how many blue polishes I buy, I never get tired of wearing them, I could easily wear blue polish everyday and not get sick of it...AT ALL!!!!!

Butter London "Knees Up"

Hello there, today I have my new favorite red.  OKAY.....my "old-old" favorite red was Orly "Red Flare", then my "old" favorite red was China Glaze "Ruby Pumps", but this is my "new" favorite red, Butter London "Knees Up"...confused yet..LOL! :)

Well, anyway, it's a gorgeous metallic red color, that is simply beautiful, and perfect for the holidays.

Butter London
"Knees Up"
2 coats

I did my usual technique, OPI Nail Envy Base Coat, 2 coats of color, OPI Top Coat and Seche Vite.

To jazz it up a bit (as if it needed it), I added 1 coat of OPI "Gettin Miss Piggy With It" on the ring finger and the thumb :)

KU was super easy to apply, no issues..actually I did have one issue...I didn't want to change my manicure.  These photos are after 3 days, and I still wore it for 2 more days, and loved every minute of it.

Because the OPI is red and silver glitter in a clear base, it adds a nice sparkle to the Butter London, without too much contrast. Just a little bling for the holidays! :)

I have 2 other Butter London colors, I need to try "Wallis" and "Bluey" :) You can find Butter London at their online store, Nordstroms, Ulta and Planet Beauty.

After my manicure, I made this my next pedicure color and I now have STUNNING TOES!
