O.B.A.G. Maybelline Express Finish "Zip Fly"

Today I have, what I like to call an O.B.A.G "Oldie But A Goodie". That is a polish that is old, but is still relevant and always a classic. But let me say, I think all polish, whether old or new is RELEVANT, LOL :)

Okay back to Maybelline Express Finish "Zip Fly".

Yes, this is another "dupeish" Essie Starry Starry Night. A lot of gals have purchased this and had their lemming "squelched", but personally it's pretty, but not pretty enough to stop me wanting that Essie, LOL!

Bottle Shot

Maybelline "Zip Fly" is a deep nay shimmer with silver glitter. I applied 2 coats of color, and topped it with my usual 2 coats of top coat.

"Zip Fly" is part of a "Blue Jean' inspired line by Maybelline, some of the other colors are "Button Fly", "Stone Washed", "Boot Leg", "Blue Riders", "Diva Blues", and "Indigo Chic".

I purchased my bottle years ago at the dollar tree along with a bunch of other older Maybellines.

I love blues, and dark blues even more. This polish was easy to apply, but because it was an older formula it needed some thinner to thin it out, and it smelled AWFUL, LOL...but I just opened a window and kept working :)

Here are some pics in indirect lighting...

I love that sparkle, like a perfect night sky.  PERFECT!

I've got the Maybelline Blues :)

Happy Monday!

I did a little polish shopping over this weekend, okay I did A LOT. Most of it online, so when my new colors come in I will definitely show you pics of them, but today I have 2 pretty blues I purchased 2 weeks ago at my local Walgreens.

Maybelline Color Show "Styled Out" and "Denim Dash", 2 coats each.

These are pics of my left hand, and I was pleasantly surprised at how well these 2 colors applied. Smooth and easy to control and opaque in 2 coats. The actual colors did not wow me, like I had hoped. They kind of lay "flat" on the nail,  but still not terribly bad :)

Here is my right hand...

I topped this with my usual 2 coats, 1 regular top coat and 2nd was Seche Vite.

These colors aren't bad for the price, $2.99-$4.99, however they did start to chip and peel at the edges that very same night. Overall, not too impressed with this brand.  I guess you get what you pay for? :)

Maybelline "Cool Couture"

GIVEAWAY UPDATE: I'm such a  dork..in my rush to get the giveaway started I forgot ask for your emails address , in order to contact the winners...LOL. So please add your email address to the "Say Anything Here" box. HERE (not the comments in this post)

I'll still email all the winners and contact them thru GFC and any other way. :)

I am soooooo sorry!

I hear some chatter on MUA about this color, and headed to my local Rite-Aid to check it out.

It's a cool toned grey creme with aqua "hidden" micro-shimmer. Gorgeous!!

Maybelline
"Cool Couture"
2 coats

I love polishes that have hidden shimmer. Basically "hidden shimmer" is when the shimmer is not visible in low light or in the shade/indoors, but underneath brighter light or the sun it shines for all to see :) Thsi is my favorite kind of "shimmer".

Unfortunately, the formula is not he greatest. The first coat is terribly sheer and splotchy, and although the 2ndcoat covers better, it still has a tendency to leave some bald spots :(

I only did 2 coats, but I really should have done 3 coats. But no worries, because what it lacks in "formula" it makes up for with SHIMMER!!!!

When you look closely, you can even see tat there is also lilac shimmer as well...awesome!!!!

This is really a great color for fall.  It's Limited Edition, so run out and find it now. :)

Sparkle Bomb!

Don't ask me why I said "Sparkle Bomb", it just sounded fun to say..LOL :)

This is a manicure I did this past weekend, and I was very happy with it, and seriously did not want to take it off.   I was IN LOVE with the accent finger :)

This manicure is:

Manicure, 3 coats of China Glaze "Sexy In The City"
Accent Finger, 2 coats China Glaze "Hologram" topped with 2 coats of Maybelline "Shooting Stars"

"Sexy In The City" was surprisingly thin, but the color was gorgeous after 3 coats.  Great aqua blue shimmer with a brighter turquoise green shimmer underneath.

Now.."Shooting Stars" was a Dollar Tree find, and boy was it a great find.  When I first saw the bottle I thought, "I'll give it a try", and I did...after it sat on my counter for almost a year!!! Why did I wait???? *smacks head*

As a base, I thought China Glaze "Hologram" would be a great holographic polish to layer "Shooting Stars" over. I can see this as a fun manicure overall,  for going out to a club or something fun.  I'll have to try that soon :)

Awesome, silver holographic glitter with rectangular turquoise pieces of glitter, and the glitter complimented "Sexy In The City" perfectly! AWESOME!!!!

HA, you can see my camera in the reflection..LOL :)

Okay, I'm off to watch "Pirates Of The Caribbean" tonight, and of course I will be sportin one of the lovely OPI colors for the occasion...sooo Ahoy Maties!!! LOL :P

Happy Friday and remember...keep it sweet!

Maybelline: Vanishing Venus

Thank You to everyone who entered my Apothica Gift Card Giveaway, I'll announce the winner tomorrow :)

Well I mentioned yesterday how the shimmer duo-chrome in Misa's "It's You!" reminded me of Vanishing Venus...well of course that created a serious "ear worm" in my head and thus I had to go home and put it on...LOL..so here it is :)

Maybelline
"Vanishing Venus"
3 coats, with 2 coats of top coat (to make the manicure last)

I received this in a swap, and the swapper told me that her little sister went thru a sticker phase and took off all the stickers...LOL.  Being that I too went thru a "sticker phase" in grade school, I totally understood..LOL :)

Then to reassure me, she sent me bottle pics, and I knew when I saw the pics that this was DESTINY!...:):)

It's an awesome formula, red based purple shimmer with flashes of a green/blue metallic duo-chrome.  Not as metallic as Galaxy Girl from Orly, just different :)

I have Orly "Galaxy Girl", so i need to do a comparison to show the true differences, the colors are the same, but the finish is different, stay tuned :P

I caught a chill

This polish was one of my first lemmings when I started to follow nail blogs in Oct. 2009.

I believe I saw it on Getcha Nails Did, and it was stunning!

*UPDATE* Brooke said she doesn't think it was her who blogged about Blue Chill...who is the mystery blogger who swatched it before me?....LMAO..the search continues :)

I had no idea then that the Dollar Tree had polish, NOW I stop by the DT every week! LMAO!

I finally found it last week, and I was so happy I found it!

Love it, 2 coats.  It was a bit streaky and I had to fight the brush strokes but  it was worth it!

There is also 1 coat of top coat and I just love the Icelandic blue shimmer!

"Blue Chill" is a lovely grey shimmer with an added ice blue shimmer flash, so pretty in person!

I'm still looking for "Twinkle, Twinkle", but "Blue Chill" will keep me on ice till then. :) HA!
