Mash-Up: Bar fight, with Spencer!

Yep, I'm BACK!   I've got my new camera and a new nail shape and I am back in business!

It's not exactly FALL here in Southern California, today will be a whopping 108 degrees. So since Mother Nature is stuck in the summer...so are my nails, LOL!  Today I combined a gorgeous creme from Zoya with a gorgeous Pixie Dust from Zoya.

I combined Zoya "Spencer" with Zoya "Bar".

I applied two coats of "Spencer" to the nails, and on the accent finger I applied one coat of "Spencer", and then one coat of "Bar".   After the manicure dried I applied my usual two coats of top coat to the entire manicure, and then topped the accent nail with one coat using a matte top coat.  I like the added texture the matte top coat adds to the Magical PixieDust polish.

"Spencer" is a rich camel cream from the Naturel Deux Collection for Spring 2014. I applied well in two coats and dried in the normal dry time.

"Bar" is a magical pixiedust in a glittery nude topaz from the Magical PixieDust Summer Collection for 2014. It applies best over another color in one coat. Applying a similarly matched base color before applying the pixiedust, not only allows for easier removal, but it requires less coats for opacity.

I love how well thee two color go together, as if they were made for one another.

Tomorrow, I will post my review of the two full collections, but I simply had to show you, my combo first.

Mash-Up: Toucan Touch This 24 Carrots Bold!

Yeah I know...I'm pushin it with that "Mash-Up" title, LOL!

Today I have a bright combo I wore a couple weeks ago.

KBShimmer "Toucan Touch This" and "24 Carrot Bold".

I applied 3 coats of "24 Carrot Bold" and 4 coats of "Toucan Touch This" to the middle 2 nails. I applied 2 coats of top coat to the entire manicure, the it was perfectly smooth. This manicure lasted 4 days, with very small chips to my right thumb nail only. :)

"24 Carrot Bold" Matte is a red-orange polish that is a stunning summer color.  This orange polish has a gold micro flake that shines in the light.  This color is super pigmented, so 2 coats is usual, but because I painted my layers thinner, I used 3 coats.

"Toucan Touch This" has a chartreuse green base, with gold, green, teal, blue, and orange hex glitters, some holographic. Micro teal, orange and blue bars are accented by micro orange glitters. I love how tropical this polish is.

It reminds me of birds and Brazil, even though I have never been to Brazil, but I have seen birds, LOL! Bright greens with oranges, blues and golds, gorgeous! I did thin coats, because I did not want the glitter to look clumpy, so 4 coats was perfect for "unclumped" opacity. :)

I loved how bright this manicure was.  Sometimes I'm in the mood for a crazy, LOUD manicure and this was the perfect manicure for my mood.  Of course this manicure attracted a lot of attention...it looks like I have a toucan on my hands, LOL :)

Mash-Up: Eiffel For This Mad As A Hatter Color

I have not done a Mash-Up in a while, and this one kind of fell in my lap, LOL! I need to do more, as it is a great way to wear more colors from my "untrieds" at the same time.

OPI "Eiffel For This Color" and the ever popular OPI " Mad As A Hatter".

These 2 were next to each other on my "untrieds" shelf and they looked perfect together so... WALLAH!

OPI "Eiffel For This Color" is from the La Collection de France Fall 2008. It is a  deep, dark black purple toned cherry color with shimmer. Sooo pretty and it applied perfectly in 2 coats, no issues.

OPI "Mad As A Hatter" is from the Alice In Wonderland Collection Spring 2010.  It is a (majority purple)  multicolored glitter. I applied 2 coats without a base color and the coverage is amazing. Also, it did not dry with a CRAZY gritty finish, and with 1 coat of top coat it was PERFECT!

So blingy, so pretty! I originally had a friend of mine buy this for me when she could not find the HOLO MPJ back in 2010. She lived in Texas  (I'm in CA) and I sent her to a nail place I heard about on FB in Texas.  I couldn't have her make the 45 min. trip only to come up empty handed, so on the cell phone she said " Sorry I couldn't find the other one, but there is this pretty glitter on the counter here, it's called Mad As A Hatter".  I responded "Okay, you can grab that one for me, thanks". LOL! If only I knew then what I know now...OH MAN!!!

Here is a pick of it in indirect light.

Mash-Up: Midnight Cami what a Stroke of Brilliance!

I haven't done a mash-up in a while, so here is another. 1 brand + 2 polishes= PERFECTION!

Essie "Midnight Cami" and "Stroke of Brilliance".

I applied 2 coats of Essie "Midnight Cami" and then 1 coat of "Stroke of Brilliance". Then my usual 2 coats of top coat, OPI Top Coat and then SV.

I have had "Midnight Cami" for over a year and I have never applied it until ow...someone smack me PLEASE! LOL!

This dark navy blue shimmer is gorgeous! Easily the most "slept on" polish in my collection. I'm definitely wearing this again. :)

Application was smooth and perfect in 2 coats and it was simply stunning! No issues!

Essie "stroke of brilliance", applied perfectly too! 1 coat and I got exactly the coverage I needed, and it was super smooth, A+++ on this formula Essie. Keep up the great work!

Both can be purchased at your local drugstore, "stroke of brilliance" was seasonal and may be harder to find now, grab them if you can!!!!

Mash-Up: Orly "La Playa" and "Rock Solid"

Hello all, sorry I did not post yesterday, I had the day off and decided to spend some time with family and friends :) But I'm back now, and today I have another great "Mash-Up".

Orly "La Playa" from the Viva Collection Summer 2010 and "Rock Solid" from the Mineral FX Collection 2011, 2 coats each.

Rock Solid was unexpectedly bumpy for me :( Even after my usual double top coat using SV, no dice, I still had the bumpies :(

Orly "La Playa" is a great medium royal blue creme, easy to apply, and even easier to fall in love with! Gorgeous!

On MUA, someone was asking if anyone did "accent nails" anymore...Uh Yeah!!!...right over here, I LOVE accent nails.  I usually pick 2 colors to wear by accident.  I see them standing next to each other on my "Un-trieds Shelf" and I  go "Ah ha...perfect nail mates" :)

I loved this manicure, and even though "Rock Solid", was a little "rocky" on me, I'll give it another shot before I swap it out :)

Mash-Up: Crushed Papaya Punch Candy

I have another "Mash Up" for ya!!

2 coats China Glaze "Papaya Punch", and 1 coat China Glaze Crackle "Crushed Candy".

It came out pretty cool huh?! It's "punchy" and fun and totally reminds me of sherbert! LOL!

I topped this dessert manicure off with one coat of OPI "Top Coat" and 1 coat of Seche Vite. Super easy and I received a lot of compliments on it :)

I need to get the pink and purple crackles from China Glaze, because I really like how those candy colors can look with other bright summer colors.. ..yum yum!

MASH-UP: No Room For The Blues Last Friday Night!!!

LOL...It's a "Mash Up"!! These two polishes go as well together, as their names...a perfect match!

2 coats of OPI "No Room For The Blues" and 1 coat of OPI "Last Friday Night" on the ring finger.

Please forgive for that mark on my middle finger, LOL, I do not know what that is? I swear it wasn't there when I went to bed, but when I woke..there it was...I think it was the "polish gremlins" int he middle of the night, altering my manicure..LOL! :)

"No Room For The Blues" is a pretty bright robin egg blue that leans more turquoise.  It applied nicely in 2 coats no issues.

I topped Last Friday on top and it turned out really nice1 The two colors pair very well together, next time I'll do the entire manicure like the ring finger :)

I'm definitely going to think of more "Mash Up" manicures that work well together...can you think of any?
