OPI "Simmer & Shimmer" vs. NOPI "Snow-man Of My Dreams"

Okay, today I am comparing OPI "Simmer & Shimmer" to Nicole by OPI "Snow-man Of My Dreams ".  Now I know what you are thinking, "Why compare two colors that are made by the same company?"...well sometimes, company's re-release a color that is popular or if it would work with another season or holiday.

NOPI "Snow-man Of My Dreams" was released this holiday season, 2011.
OPI "Simmer & Shimmer" was released in the Burlesque Collection in the winter of 2010.

So...the buzz in the nail community is that these are dupes...what do you think?

Left to Right: OPI, NOPI, OPI, NOPI, 2 coats each, no top coat.

Left to Right: OPI, NOPI, OPI, NOPI, 2 coats each, no top coat.

As you can see the glitters are very, very close, but there are small differences.  Both polishes applied nicely, smooth and easy.

The OPI has better coverage, and is opaque in 2 coats.  The NOPI is thinner, and does not cover as well, so 3 coats is needed to get complete opacity. So if you are planning on doing this as a manicure, you would need 3 coats of the NOPI vs. 2 coats with the OPI...don't forget you still need to add your top coats. :)

As far as the glitter is concerned, in my opinion, they are identical.  I know at times, the NOPI seemed as if it had more fuchsia glitter than the OPI, and the OPI looks as if it has more gold glitter than the NOPI, but as we all know, with glitter, it varies with every stroke.:) Sometimes you get more blue, sometimes you get more gold, and sometimes you get nothing...LOL!

So if you have the OPI, you do not need the NOPI. But, if you missed out in getting the OPI..then get the NOPI version, and know that you are getting the same color, just in a thinner package :)

Remember, keep it sweet!

I find it odd that OPI make dupes, even though it's two different "brands" (not the right word, but I hope you understand what I mean).
So thanks. :)
