However, I love a dare, so my first thought was "grapefruits", I love them soo much..but when I tried them on my nail, it turned out looking like sections of pastel wagon wheels from the 1800's...no bueno!
So then I decided on a very appropriate food for summer and Memorial Day and that is "Watermelon".
Nina Ultra Pro "Tutti Fruitti"
China Glaze "Watermelon Rind"
Diamond Cosmetics "Starry Night"
Zoya "Snow White"
Double header nail art brush (other side is a dotting tool) and an eyeliner brush I picked up at TJ Maxx.
2 coats of Tutti Fruitti, then I used my eyeliner brush dipped in acetone and dug out the entire tip for the green. Added 2 coats of the green, and used the nail art brush for the white and also for the seeds.
I could have done better on the seeds, but not too bad for my first nail art, No? I liked using all sparkly polishes, it added a nice "ice cold" shimmer to my watermelons...LOL
Have you ever tried doing nail art, without Konad? How did it go?

Summer mood nails!!!Yay!Love them!
Woooo! I love this. So funky for summer. The colours go so nicely together and with your skin tone. I think Watermelon Rind is a must for every girls stash right? Think I need to add this to my wishlist. And I've never done freehand nail art. I think this is amazing for your first time! I actually just had to re-read to make sure you actually said it was your first one lol
mhhhh- your nails make me crave watermelons ^^
This looks sweet enough to eat!
This is so fun! I love this :D
Jackie, if this isn't the sweetest summer nail art! It's fun and you did a great job free-hand. :)
This is really cute. :)
Wow, great job especially considering nail art isn't your thing!!
Nail art is not your thing..pffft. This is great, so much so it is making me want watermelon!!
love this look!!
Brilliant! I have done tiger stripes. They worked out OK. I also tried cherry blossom and that was a big FAT fail.
Very cute! Turned out GREAT for your first time!
Great job for your first try. I haven't tried this yet. I've only gone as far as funky french. My nails aren't long enough to do this again. Love watermelon and this is a cute idea. I also love China Glaze's Watermelon Rind. Love the shimmer in this.
This is fantastic! It really came out so cute. Nice work freehanding!
Thank U everyone, next time I'll use my dotting tool, to make the seeds look better, and I'm still perfecting he grapefruit..LOL!
