Teal Ombre Nail Manicure

Here is a sweet little diddy I wore last week.

I took an empty nail wheel and swatched a bunch of teal cremes, in order to see which colors looked "in harmony" with one another, and these were the winners!

Left to Right: China Glaze "Re-Fresh Mint, Catrice "Am I Blue Or Green?", China Glaze "Aquadelic", Zoya "Wednesday", OPI "Mermaid's Tears".

Left to Right (Thumb to Pinkie): China Glaze "Re-Fresh Mint, Catrice "Am I Blue Or Green?", China Glaze "Aquadelic", Zoya "Wednesday", OPI "Mermaid's Tears".

I like how this ombre goes from "minty green" to "teal blue", and then to a more subdued teal. Fun!

4th of July "Liquid Sand" Stars and Stripes

I saw this nail tutorial on Chalkboard Nails, and I knew I had to do it for today's manicure!

I used...

OPI "Alpine Snow" for the base color. Orly "Snowcone" and Orly "Shine" for the stripes and then the stars are sponged on using OPI "Magazine Cover Mouse".

After I painted the base and the stripes, I topped it off with Seche Vite, so that it would dry faster before starting the "stars process". The base colors MUST be completely dry before you try applying the sponged stars. COMPLETELY! After that, you punch the stars in the tape and sponge them on, that's it. Follow the tutorial by Chalkboard Nails for better details.

I had some problems, with the tape.  I used the same piece of tape punched with stars for each nail, and as the nails progressed the definition in the stars lessened.  Next time, I will use several pieces of tape, punched with stars, so that I will always have the same defined stars throughout. :)

Here is a quick pic of the tutorial stage...

Overall, I'm very happy with my manicure, and I recommend you try this technique, it's worth the effort :)

Happy July 4th, and Keep It Sweet!

Jindie Nails "JINDIE-Pendence Glitter Topper" Limited Edition

I have another holiday themed manicure for ya using Jindie Nails!

I decided to top Jindie Nails "JINDIE-Pendence Glitter Topper" LE over China Glaze "Immortal".

I applied 2 coats of  JPG over 2 coats of China Glaze "Immortal".  After that I applied my usual 2 coats of top coat!

Jindie Nails "JINDIE-Pendence Glitter Topper" is a mix of red, white, blue and silver glitter in a a variety of shapes and sizes suspended in a clear base. There are squares, stars, circles, diamonds, hexagons, rectangles, and dots, all in a variety of matte and metallic finishes.

China Glaze "Immortal" was released for their Halloween 2012 Wicked Collection.  It has an awesome grey base with blue and purple shimmer. It applied well in 2 coats,. no issues and I  thought the shimmer would be a perfect base for the large glitter on top. I was right!

Unfortunately this Jindie Nails polish is already SOLD OUT too, but you may able to score a bottle on a "blog sale". :)

JINDIE-Pendence !

Oh yeah... bring on the red, white and blue glitter, and what makes it even better is that it is in a white, milky "crelly" base WOO HOO!

Jindie "JINDIE-Pendence" Limited Edition.  JINDIE NAILS is my "Candy Shop of the Month" for July, so check out their site by clicking on the link in my sidebar. :)

I applied 4 coats of JP, and topped it with a smooth coat of top coat. This polish dries relatively smooth and it took only 1 coat of top coat to smooth out any "glitter bumps"

Bottle Shot

"JINDIE-Pendence" is a mix of matte and metallic red, white and blue glitter, in the shapes of squares, stars, diamonds, circles, dots  and hexagons in a white "crelly" base. Crelly's are polishes where the base is a cross between a creme and a translucent jelly. :)

This is opaque in 3 coats, but I did 4 coats because I couldn't get enough of the glitter goodness...MORE the Merrier!

Unfortunately this polish is already SOLD OUT, but you may able to score a bottle on a "blog sale". :)

Shimmer Polish "Nichole"

Happy July!!!!

Since this week we celebrate Americas independence day (July 4th), I am doing all patriotic themes manicures and polish, let's bring on the red, white, and blue!

I started with OPI "Dating A Royal", and then added Shimmer Polish "Nichole" to the accent nail.

Shimmer Polish "Nichole" is a beautiful mix of red, blue and silver glitter in various sizes. 1 coat covers nicely, and dries to a smooth finish.

OPI "Dating A Royal" is a beautiful royal blue jelly. Yep, its a must have in everyone nail polish collection. After 3 thin coats, it's perfect. The key to any polish that requires more than 2 coats for opacity is THIN COATS. If you do 3, or 4 or even 5 THIN coats, your manicure stands a chance at drying normally and being FABULOUS!
