Zoya and China Glaze get CRACKIN!!!

Here is a manicure I did last weekend.  I was going shopping at South Coast Plaza in Orange County, CA, and I didn't have much time so I applied Zoya "Phoebe", and applied top coat.

Since Phoebe is matte it dried fast and was perfect for my shopping trip, but when I got home I knew this color needed a "kick", so I applied China Glaze "Cracked Medallion". PERFECT!!!

This combo was hot! I loved it, I felt like Cleopatra draped in precious metals and turquoise..LOL!

I wasn't the only one attracted to this manicure, all day while shopping I kept running into "reality stars"..LOL.

While getting on the elevator at Macy's, my mother and I were standing behind Giuliana Rancic and her hubby, Bill.  They were shooting a "shopping scene" for their reality show, and my mother and I were smack dab in the middle of the shot..LOL, we had to sign a waiver, so maybe you'll spot me on TV..there goes my 15 seconds of fame..LOL!

I really like how Cracked Medallion "cracked", it's awesome!  It is a great bronze color, that is great for the summer, and make you looks really tan and "summer ready".  It applied smoothly over the "top coated color", and dried/cracked perfectly! Love this!!!!!

Also, while shopping at Michael Kors, I spotted former Orange County Housewife, Jeana Keough, shopping for shoes!  Wow another reality star, in 2 hours,...this is too much!!  And if that wasn't enough 2 days before, another former OC housewife, Jo De La Rosa, popped up in my Bikram Yoga Class..LOL..seriously!?! I guess that's "LA" :)

This combo is hot, if you have any similar colors, do it!!!

If you do this manicure, you may run into s a reality star of your own.

On second thought, maybe you should skip it for that reason alone...LOL!

Happy Friday! Keep it Sweet!

A chick, a straw and some paint.

So after seeing all the great "splatter manicures" around the blogosphere, you know I had to try.

The method is that you paint your nail any color, then dip a straw into nail polish (the bottle or dip it into a glob of polish on a plate or foil), then place over the nail and BLOW!!!!!!

So here are my results!!!

Left hand

Right Hand. What do you think? I like the right hand better than the left :)

I used OPI "Alpine Snow", 2 coats, since white polish is a great base for neon's.  Then to "splatter", I used  China Glaze "Pool Party", "Yellow Polka Dot Bikini" and "Towel Boy Toy". All topped with 2 coats of top coat :)

Yeah it makes a MESS!, so here are some tips:

1. Use a smaller straw, like those used as coffee stirrers. The "splatter" is more controlled.

2. Tape up your fingers along the sides and the across the cuticle, or smear petroleum jelly in the same area before you start, for easy clean up.

3. I prefer to drop the paint on a piece of foil and then dip the straw in that.  Dipping the straw in the bottle can waste a lot of paint, and it makes the straw even messier.

4. Wear clothing you don't care about, the paint may get on  them.

5. Have an eyeliner brush and acetone ready to clean up the sides.

5. Don't try and be perfect, just have fun! :)

I said, I wasn't going to do this again, but looking back at my nails... I think I actually WILL do this again!

Right Thumb.

Left Thumb

Everyone who saw my hands, was amazed at how cool they came out, and even more amazed that I did them myself. :P

Have you already tried this method? Which color combination's did you use?

Yummy!!!!

Yummy, yummy, in my tummy...well not exactly in my tummy, but on my nail it's yummy too...LOL!

Zoya
"Yummy"
2 coats

Then I sponged on the tips Diamond Cosmetics "Silver Brocade".  I was going for THIS look that Let Them Have Polish did...but I didn't go high enough on the frost :(

But I think it still looks good, right?

Zoya "Yummy" was part of Zoya's Candy Summer Collection in 2007, and is still available. It is a bright robin egg blue creme and would be AWESOME on anyone's toes this summer.

I think the thumbed turnout the best..LOL.  Next time, I will try this with a darker color, hopefully the sparkle towards the top will shoe up more :)

Nicole by OPI new colors for Fall: Swatches and Review

Target-ed Color for Fall!

Nicole by OPI Launches Four New Shades, Exclusively for Target

Nicole by OPI adds four new shades to Something About Color, exclusively retailed at Target. From olive green and periwinkle to deep burgundy and classic red, these four hues are designed to transition manicures from summer to fall with on-trend colors.
Nicole by OPI has taken the Something About Spring collection that launched in Target this past March and added new shades to take the line from Spring to Fall,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, Nicole by OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “Target has become a hub for fashionable consumers, which is why the new colors feature some of the season’s hottest hues, like red [I Love You Cherry Much], which will appear this winter as an accent shade to add a bright pop of richly-pigmented color. The neutral trend will also continue, adding elements of taupe, khaki and olive green [Green Up Your Act!] to the current favorites of nude, tan and grey.”
Nicole by OPI additions to Something About Color include:

Green Up Your Act!
2 coats

"This powerful olive-green has its eyes on you!".  I am in love with this green.  I love the murky quality to it,. and the cooler blue undertones really make it stand out :)

Sounds Grape to Me
2 coats

"A shimmering burgundy that’s up for anything!"  Okay OPI? This isn't "grape"? I'd call this one more raisin  than grape.  No matter how you slice it, this wine colored shimmer is perfect for fall...see it's wine...LOL! :)

It’s Not Me, It’s Blue
3 coats

"Pretty periwinkle, you had me at 'shimmer.' "  This isn't quite blue, and I certainly wouldn't call it  periwinkle.  I'd say it's is a "greyed out" blue shimmer with violet undertones....yeah I know what you are thinking, it's a dark periwinkle shimmer...LOL,   It's an odd color to describe but one thing is for sure...it's a keeper!!!!

I Love You Cherry Much
3 coats

"Hold onto this romantic red – it’s a keeper." I love this polish and so did everyone else who saw it on my hands.  This is a true red shimmer, with  pink undertones. This color was opaque in 2 coats, but I just had to add another coat to get a richer red shimmer, and I was right!!

All the polishes applied easily, and the formula was creamy and dried nicely.

Nicole by OPI Nail Lacquers and Nail Treatments contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. Nicole by OPI formulas are long-lasting, fast-drying, and salon-quality, with products featuring the Perfect Stroke brush for streak-free, even coverage. The new Something About Color Nail Lacquers will be available August 2011 for $7.04 each at select Target locations nationwide and Target.com.

Smack Me..PLEASE!!!!

Why did I wait so long to wear Milani "Hi-Res"?...seriously? Smack me!? It's awesome!

Milani
"Hi-res"
2 coats

In my opinion, this was the best drugstore polish release in HISTORY.  This definitely beats out Revlon's release of the "Zing" collection back in the late 90's.

Hi-Res is a great purple scattered holographic polish that applies, nicely and does not require any "funky" layering techniques...LOL! Don't get me wrong, I love when the layers of Aqua Base and matte polishes make other holographics "pop", but it's nice when you can put one a holographic without any funny tricks...and it just WORKS!

So far I have, "Hi-Res" (purple), "Hi-Tech" (green), and "Cyber Space" (sky blue).  I definitely need to grab the silver, gold and pink, while I can still find them!!!

You can find these at your local Walgreens, Target and CVS.  Although my Walgreens has already discontinued this line, my CVS and Target still have some left.

Do you have the entire set?
