Revlon "Whimsical"

I wore this manicure sometime last month and hated it! I really wanted to love "Whimsical", I seriously had high hopes for it, but NOPE!!!

It was thick, the glitter was hard to place, it was thin and needed a base color, overall disaster, so here it is in all of it's disastrous glory..LOL!

Revlon "Whimsical"
2 "sorta" coats over 2 coats of Revlon "Blue Lagoon"

I don't know if it was the "Whimsical" to blame or the "Blue Lagoon", or a combination of the two, but this manicure would not dry....so I took my un-happy butt to bed and woke up to THIS....

BUBBLES!!!!!!!! YUCK! I know what you are thinking, "they sorta blend in with the glitter, so it's not that bad?" :P...nope it's still bad!

The color is pretty, and I love the glitter in the bottle, but working with this glitter polish was a nightmare. Not worth the effort in my opinion.

Needless to say I took this off the next day! :)

Revlon "Galaxy"

Given the fact that I was out late last night with my nephew "trick-or-treating"  a.k.a. "begging for free candy", I thought it appropriate to post this manicure.

2 coats of Revlon "Galaxy" over 1 coat of Sally Hansen "In The Navy".

I received both in recent swaps, and when I saw the 2 colors next to each other on my counter, I knew it was fate :)

"Galaxy" has a tinted blue jelly base with navy glitter and holographic micro glitter with larger holographic hexagon glitter.

It's pretty awesome, but like most glitters it has it's problems.  The glitter is hard to apply, in that, you almost have to "dab" and "place" the glitter on the nail.It does dries nicely, and it does go on smoothly, so it's not a total loss. :)

What I love most about this glitter, are the tiny bits of navy glitter, they almost look like "blue pepper" :)

"In The Navy", is your basic dark navy shimmer, it has a great "glow", which is why I was so happy to receive this in my swap. It's an older color, so it is slightly harder to find.

Yeah..... I'm so tired after last night, I need to go home and go back to bed.

Lucky for my nephew, his school has an "admin day" today, so he gets to stay at home today and eat his candy.....Lucky kid!:)

Deborah Lippmann "Bad Romance" vs. Revlon "Facets of Fuchsia"

*ding ding*

In the right corner weighing in at .5 fl oz., costing $18.00, we have the ever popular,  bad girl of glitter.. Deborah Lippmann's "BAD ROMANCE"!... *the crowd roars*

In the left corner weighing in at exactly the same weight of .5 fl. oz., costing $3.74 (plus tax), we have the up and coming champ, the new kid on the block, Revlon's "FACETS OF FUCHSIA" *fans cheer*

Let's get ready to RUMBLLLLLLLLLLE!

The fighters go toe-to-toe...Let's keep this clean ladies, no hitting below the belt :)

Left to Right: DL, Revlon, DL, Revlon.

Left to Right: DL, Revlon, DL, Revlon.

Left to Right: Revlon, DL

This was a grueling fight, both are swatched at 3 coats, and as you can see the Revlon delivers some serious left hooks of "mini- glitter" overload, compared to the Lippmann.  The mini glitter is here for a fight ladies :)

Left to Right: Revlon, DL, Revlon

Both were opaque in 2 coats (but I just had to do 3 coats), and both went on smoothly, but as you can see, the Revlon has a lot more "mini glitter" than the Lippmann. ..*a right upper cut to the rib cage*

 Left to Right: Revlon, DL

Even though I love the Lippmann for being a great contender, it can't beat the Revlon's extra 1-2 punch of glitter power. ..*Uh-oh the Lippmann is stumbling*

Left to Right; DL, Revlon, DL, Revlon

What's this?......The Lippmann has a darker base, as you can see above, and thus delivers a stronger contrast between the "eye catching pink glitter" and it's darker "brooding base".  * the Lippmann delivers a jab/cross combo, the Revlon is against the ropes* :)

So who is the winner of this famous "toe-to-toe" match up??....only you can decide, but if you were to ask me...either one of these beauties would be a champ in any girls collection. :P

Keep It Sweet!

Not meant for film..

Happy Monday!! Don't forget to enter my ALL blue giveaway, it ends tomorrow at Midnight!

It is my firm belief that not ALL nail colors were meant to be photographed.

Such polishes are best appreciated in person and  Revlon's new "Top Speed" Nail Polish in "Royal" is exactly THAT polish.

Here it is 2 coats (should have done 3)

It's gorgeous, it's shiny, it's a jelly, and I love it.  The funny thing about this polish is that in person, and even in the sun there is NO Visible Nail Line (V.N.L.), but in the pics, its sooooo obvious!!! Anybody else experience this?

This color is gorgeous, I bought 2 bottles, so I can franken with one..this is an awesome color and worth the $5.99 price tag. I bought the first one, at CVS, received a coupon back for $5 off because I purchased this, and went back and bought another bottle....score! :):)

O.B.A.G. Oldie But A Goodie

I have another "Oldie-But-A-Goodie" post.

Here are two of my favorite old skool duo-chromes by Revlon  back in law school around 1997-1999 they had a line called "ZING", and I bought 2 of them.

Revlon CherryZING
2 coats

It's a beautiful bright fuchsia shimmer that flashes hot ass orange!

Straight ahead this polish just looks like a bright fuchsia, but when it turns just an inch in either direction and you get this...

BAM... or should I say ZING....I love it!!!!

It's so old, you can barely see the name Revlon :)

Revlon KhakiZING
2 coats

A gorgeous icy purple shimmer that flashes olive green.  I wore this one A LOT, because I only have 1/2 a bottle left...and get this after almost 10 years, the formula was still perfect...no thinner required! :)

Minty Fresh

Because of all the hype over mint colored nails, I found myself buying a lot of mint polishes BUT I have yet to wear one as a full manicure...HILARIOUS!

So here are my colors, which one should I make my first mint manicure?
Left to right (starting at thumb)
Avon "Teal Waters" 3 coats
Catrice "Sold Out Forever" 2 coats
OPI "Damone Roberts 1968" 2 coats
Revlon "Minted" 2 coats
China Glaze "Re-Fresh Mint" 2 coats
I was surprised to see that the coveted Catrice (Chanel Jade dupe) was so close in color to the Damone Roberts...this is good for those of you who could not get your hands on "Jade", you still have a chance with OPI Damone Roberts and the Catrice. :)

I also love that the Revlon and The CG are both light mints but different.  The Revlon is cooler and more blue and the CG is warmer, they are so close, but still different.  The Avon is in its own category, a great minted shimmer.
So if you got the OPI Damone Roberts, you are all right for the color of "Jade", but still missing the shimmer. Here's a closer look!
Can you see the shimmer, the shimmer is a really nice bright green shimmer, subtle yet stunning.
If this Catrice is a "Chanel Jade" dupe, then I NOW know why they all went crazy for it...STUNNING!

So which one should be my first Mint Manicure?
