Swatches and another GIVEAWAY!!!!! CLOSED

I found this great set of "LA Colors: Color Craze Metallic Polish Series" in my local CVS, and I grabbed it quickly.  2 jelly shimmers and 2 foils...awesome!   Then, when I got the package home I realized there are no names for the colors? How odd is that?


Pink
3 coats

A gorgeous fuchsia jelly with pink and blue glass fleck shimmer.  It was opaque in 2 coats, but I thought 3 coats would show the jelly color and shimmer better.  Easy to apply, no issues, dried smooth, not gritty. :)


Purple
3 coats

Really pretty, this one is awesome!  Deep purple jelly with purple and blue glass fleck shimmers...gorgeous too, perfect for winter...deep and sparkly.  No complaint either, same formula as the pink :)


Grey
2 coats

Now this is a definite foil, it actually more platinum and graphite colored than I originally was expecting.  Awesome color, I love the silver and graphite foil effect, dried quickly and smooth.


Green
2 coats

This is an awesome green foil.  It leans more aqua green than kelly green, but it is awesome! A great green foil.


This set is awesome and considering it was only $2.99...that is a better deal than the Dollar Tree, so you know I had to grab an extra for a giveaway....for my followers! :)

Grey Ombre (Gradient) Nails

No matter if you spell it "grey" or "gray"...it's AWESOME! 
I've been collecting grey polish on purpose so I could do this post, I love grey polish, I think it's the new neutral in my book, so here ya go...

I will definitely be rocking this, this winter.  Next...I'm going to start collecting for a blue gradient that ends NAVY! 

In fact I may already have what I need for a blue gradient, I'll get back to you on this one. :)

Did someone say Silver Holo??

Thumb: OPI D.S. "Coronation"- 4 coats
Index: Color Club "Worth the Risque"- 3 coats
Middle: Nfu-Oh "61"- 2 coats with a coat of "Nfu-Oh aqua base" in between.
Ring: GOSH "Holographic" 2 coats with a coat of "Nfu-Oh aqua base" in between.
Pinkie: Essence "Glam Rock" 4 coats

I definitely agree with everyone when I say that I think the Nfu-Oh and the GOSH are the best holo, but seriously the worst to work with.

Next in holo shine would be the Essence followed by the OPI, and then the Color Club.

In these pics the Essence is really blingy, it delivers the shine, but was a little difficult to work with and gave me drag when I layered the 1st and 2nd coats.

Overall the OPI was the best to work with , no complaints!  :)

NARS the stuff that seperates the women from the girls....

NARS "Zulu" arrived and I made a bee line to Nordstroms, I even called ahead to make sure they had he collection..

I arrived and the sales woman said "I hope you didnt want Full Metal Jacket?"..I said "Oh no, I want "Zulu" and "Midnight Express"...why? is Full Metal Jacket sold out?". Come to find out it was sold out. I picked up the sample bottle and thought why? Its just a silver. I figured, I'd delve into this later and grabbed my two bottles of luxurious jelly polish and hit the road.

Why is "Full Metal Jacket" sold out? I mean really?... it's just another silver, platinum polish..no biggie. The real big deal is "Zulu" and "Midnight Express" in my opinion.

Then I realized... "Zulu" and "Midnight Express" can only be loved, appreciated and adored by a "Nail Head", someone who understands what a jelly polish IS and how great these two shades are.

So here ya go..

I wore this for 4 days and it was AWESOME!

Then I couldnt wait to swatch "Midnight Express"

Then I realized 4 was needed, I still had some bald spots...see them?

I could have done this in 3 coats, if I wasn't in such a rush.

This is 4 coats....I'm in love!

Gorgeous!!!  So now I realize why "Full Metal Jacket" was gone...see jelly's take patience and lots-o-love, only something a "nail head" could attempt to deliver and appreciate.

So all the other polish shoppers can take the easy road...I'll take the the hard and difficult road that leads to GREAT looking nails...thank you very much :) LMAO

OPI DS Coronation

Today I have OPI DS Coronation, a beautiful silver/white holographic polish.

3 coats of Coronation and 1 coat of Seche Vite.....and Wallah!

Then I decided to add some dots using Color Club "Revvolution".  The dots didn't turn out as holo as the OPI, but it was fun none the less :)

I'm very happy I got this polish, and the silver holo glitter is nice, I'm still looking for OPI DS "Shimmer", now that is a silver HOLO!

Even though I already ave Nfu-Oh#61, and  Gosh Holographic, I still want DS Shimmer to round out the collection :)

What I like about silver holo's is that when you have tip wear or a chip, its really hard to see and thus the manicure always seems to look good :)

My other hobby..... jewelry making :)

Among my love for polish is a love for making jewelry! :)

It all started when a friend showed me how to make a beaded lariat necklace.  I started by going every weekend to bead stores and I would purchase tools, beads  and crystals, sometimes pearls.

Then I started to go to bead shows and conventions where you can buy everything for about half the price in stores. Of course, I've moved on from glass and plastic beads and I use semi-precious stones, crystals and everything else under the sun. :)

Now.....if I see a necklace or earrings in a department store or a bracelet on a celebrity, I'll make it, instead of buying it!

The mark-up on jewelry in stores is CRAZY, and I refuse to pay that price when I know I can make it for 50% less, sometimes more than that...easy!....just so long as it does not involve any hot metal work...OUCH!!!!

 Here are two necklaces I made this past weekend.

This one is made from Venetian Glass Agate and Swarovski crystals

This one is made from super tiny turquoise beads, a single Venetian Glass Agate in the center and on each side there are Apatite roundels and London Blue Topaz roundels.

Both necklaces have sterling silver clasps. 

The only bad thing about making jewelry is that is reeks havoc on the nails, but it's worth it to have something pretty dangling from your ears, neck or wrists:)

So now you know about 2 of my passions:)

Black Holo Comparison

I've been waiting to do this comparison, and I have been collecting all of the black and charcoal holos I could find. I'm sure there are more out there :)

Index: Petites Color Fever "Black Diamond"
Middle: OPI (MPJ) "My Private Jet"
Ring: Color Club "Revvolution"
Pinkie: Diamond Cosmetics "Chain Mail Charm"

Now, in terms of darkness, it goes: MPJ, Black Diamond, CHC, and Revv.
In terms of holoness, it's" MPJ, CHC, Revv, and Black Diamond.

I know, I know, you're thinking which one do I like the most?...I love them all but
MPJ is the best overall , not just because its the holo version, and not because its hard to find, but because it delivers exactly what I want...black holo perfection. 

I don't believe this is the first version of MPJ, but it makes ME happy, and that's all a girl can ask for ...my next favorite is Diamond Cosmetics "Chain Mail Charm"...this I tell you ladies, is the 2nd best polish for several reasons:

1. It delivers in color, deep dark charcoal, and once its layered over black, gorgeous!!!!
2. It delivers in quality, goes on great, wears well and easy to take off!!
3. It delivers in holo...oh lordie does it deliver, no issues here!!!
4. But the best part is the price...$2.25...you can not beat that with a stick, no way jose!

MPJ may be the King in this court, but Chain Mail Charm is the Queen and we all know behind every strong man, is a stronger woman.

OPI DS Magic Comparison

Last week I showed you OPI DS "Magic", today I'm showing you how it compares to Sally Hansen "Laser" and "OPI Ink". ( I do not have Orly "Lunar Eclipse")

Index: "OPI Ink"
Middle: OPI DS "Magic"
Ring: SH "Laser"
Pinkie: OPI DS "Magic"

"OPI Ink" is definitely an indigo, dark purple polish, with excellent shimmer, gorgeous.

OPI DS "Magic" is a deep and true royal blue shimmer with a purple flash.

"Laser" is OPI DS "Magic's" little brother, it offers the same blue sparkle and the same purple flash., just not as deep.  Definitely not a dupe, but very close.

OPI DS "Magic" only needed 2 coats, but "Laser" needed 3 coats. 

It's on the thin side, but so close that if you have "Laser", I'd reckon you don't need "Magic". :)

I've been told "Orly "Lunar Eclipse" is close to "Laser", and my guess is that it's a kissing cousin to DS Magic.

China Glaze Awakening Collection Halloween 2010

I've been waiting for this collection for a long time, but I have to say, I'm gonna have to keep working on these, to get the application down.

I have all 3 colors here and I decided to use the 3 top coats I'm giving away in my giveaway that ends Oct 8th, enter HERE.

Loved it, no issues, great purple jelly base and the purple/fuchsia glitter is awesome.  And WOW, look what "Hidden Treasure" does to this one..love it! the picture doesn't show it but there is this great orange/pink duo-chrome action going on , on the ring finger that has "Hidden Treasure". :)

Here is "Zombie Zest"

Obvious VNL in the sunlight, but in the shadows this polish is Okay.  "Hidden Treasure" really adds great orangey flakes to this one, very spooky!!!!

Here is "Ick-A-Bod-Y"
3 coats

 Yeah this one was cool, but a bit of a disappointment, the green jelly base is awesome next to the orange glitter, but I had trouble getting the glitter on the parts of the nail I wanted to cover??  I'm gonna have to work with this one.  Also, Hidden Treasure didn't do much for this one

Overall Matte Magic didn't really effect this crew, the glitter is so shiny it shined right thru... and the ghoulish glow works, but I couldn't photograph it at all

It's almost velvety ( I tried to capture it with a blurry shot- hope it doesn't make your sea sick ) It's a red based purple shimmer, that is gorgeous and applied like a dream! :)

Here you can see  more of the purple in it.  So pretty.

So far my favorites from this collection are this one, "Yodel me on my cell", and "Cuckoo for this color", I haven't worn the others yet, but I'm getting there :)

 I'm going to see "The social network" tonight, have you seen any good movies lately?
