Dr's Remedy: Jolly & Joy Holiday 2011 Swatches and Review

Today I have the Holiday Collection from Dr's Remedy: Jolly and Joy!

"Revive" Ruby Red
2 coats

This color isn't new to the line-up , but you can not deny that it is a perfect holiday red :)

"Passion" Purple
2 coats

Perfect red based purple shimmer. No brush stroke issues, great coverage in 2 coats :)

"Essential" Emerald
2 coats

This green totally reminds me of the Land of Oz! This yellow based green shimmer is so pretty, and the added silver shimmer gives it that extra "umpf" for the holidays :)

"Serene" Silver Glitter
2 coats

This color should be called "AMAZING", because it is an amazing silver glitter. This is a super fine silver glitter with fine red, blue and purple glitter added. LOVE IT! It dried with a slight grittiness, but after just 1 layer of top coat, it was glassy smooth!

"Resolution" Red Glitter
2 coats

Just like the previous glitter, this dried better than any glitter I've experienced this season. 1 layer of top coat and it was perfect! This is a mix of super fine red, silver, gold and blue glitter. These glitters are a perfect mix of glitter and foil combined. Great formula!

Overall the entire collection is great for the holidays, but my favorites are the glitters! Must Haves!!!!!

You can find Dr's Remedy on their site HERE and check them out on their FACEBOOK page as well.

Funny things regarding nail polish....

Sometimes things happen that are regarding nail polish, but are not worth a single post, so I've combined them here.

Windex- This really does remove polish from the carpet and from clothes.  I got some China Glaze "Rodeo Fanatic" on my neon yellow tank top, and I used Windex to get it off. Apparently Windex makes the polish separate from the fabric without sinking in and it eventually flaked off.....NICE!!!!

Old Polish- Is awesome, and should never be thrown out! Why? because a little thinner (or a lot) goes a long way...sometimes the polish endures longer than the brush itself.:)

I recently rescued some old OPI's, other randoms and a Chanel from their dark prison in the garage and although the polish was fine, the brush was NOT!!! (these were my mothers old colors).

LOL, yeah the bristles are GONE...and they now rest in the bottle of polish...LOL!  One bottle I had to decant into an empty, so that she could still use it, and once it was all out, I could see the random bristles all scattered at the bottom of the bottle.  They looked like a hair ball...LOL!

Ziploc Baggies- I can not tell you how invaluable these are.  I use them whenever I send polish to friends or to fellow polish lovers. So just in case a bottle breaks, the others are not made messy by the destruction. (I've never had a bottle break, that I sent) Plus I get a box of 50 at the Dollar Tree for $1...WINNING!!!!

Puppy Pads-When I do my nails at home, I lay out a puppy "pee" pad, as the base to my polish work station.  These are awesome, for whenever you spill remover, water or nail polish, they soak up the mess, leave no residue, nothing soaks threw them, and are disposable!  I started using these when I was "puppy sitting" for a friend, and realized that these pads are not just for puppies anymore!!!!

OPI "My Private Jet"

I'm back!!!!!

Well, since I just arrived home from a trip visiting family, I thought it appropriate to show this color today, OPI "My Private Jet".

Unfortunately I did not take a jet to visit my family, just good ole Southwest Airlines, but none the less, I flew :) LOL!

OPI
"My Private Jet"
2 coats

Because this is a HTF " Hard To Find" color, I decided to layer 2 coats over black. I did not want to waste 3 coats of my precious black holo to get the darkness and depth that is sooooo coveted!

Uggghhh this color is so pretty, why OPI, why must you make such great colors, only to change them or stop making them all together!

We all know the story, OPI has changed this formula around so many times, I believe there are 6 different version (probably more) floating around the world.  This is one of the holographic versions, and I am so happy I bought it :)

As is the case with most vacations, I am exhausted and I seriously need a vacation from my vacation :) LOL

Adios Zapatos.....

No I'm not leaving my blog, but I am out of town for this week, so no posts :(:(.

I'll be off shopping new towns and hopefully "dusty hunting" and finding new colors. Wish me luck :)

FYI, I am aware that this blogs title is "Bye Shoes"...LOL.  I used to say this all the time in Spanish class in high school, I thought it was cool because it rhymed, but made no sense. :)

Estee Lauder "Ultra Violet"

Today I have a gorgeous fuchsia color from Estee Lauder, "Ultra Violet".

Estee Lauder released this color in their Spring 2011 Collection, and frankly in my opinion, it was the stand out from the collection. Judge for yourself...

Estee Lauder
"Ultra Violet"
2 coats

*swoon* This color is so pretty and it sparkles like fuchsia and violet diamonds!

Estee Lauder colors come in 3 texture categories, "cremes", "shimmers" and "sparkles". Boy do they keep it simple..LOL! This is in the sparkle category :)

I know the bottle looks smaller than .3 ounces, but it literally is the perfect shape of a large ice cube, and boy was it difficult to hold while snapping pics...I had a "Vulcan death grip" on the bottle, so I didn't drop it :)

This polish applied nicely, and was very easy to control around the cuticle..no pooling :) The glitter in this red based violet shade is bright fuchsia and gold, which you can see better in the bottle.

But on the nail this is what you get....

So pretty! My next Estee Lauder purchase will definitely be "Extravagant Night", I hope I can find it :)

Butter London "Knees Up"

Hello there, today I have my new favorite red.  OKAY.....my "old-old" favorite red was Orly "Red Flare", then my "old" favorite red was China Glaze "Ruby Pumps", but this is my "new" favorite red, Butter London "Knees Up"...confused yet..LOL! :)

Well, anyway, it's a gorgeous metallic red color, that is simply beautiful, and perfect for the holidays.

Butter London
"Knees Up"
2 coats

I did my usual technique, OPI Nail Envy Base Coat, 2 coats of color, OPI Top Coat and Seche Vite.

To jazz it up a bit (as if it needed it), I added 1 coat of OPI "Gettin Miss Piggy With It" on the ring finger and the thumb :)

KU was super easy to apply, no issues..actually I did have one issue...I didn't want to change my manicure.  These photos are after 3 days, and I still wore it for 2 more days, and loved every minute of it.

Because the OPI is red and silver glitter in a clear base, it adds a nice sparkle to the Butter London, without too much contrast. Just a little bling for the holidays! :)

I have 2 other Butter London colors, I need to try "Wallis" and "Bluey" :) You can find Butter London at their online store, Nordstroms, Ulta and Planet Beauty.

After my manicure, I made this my next pedicure color and I now have STUNNING TOES!

Cult Nails "Hypnotic Collection" Fall 2011

Sorry, I've been gone for the past couple of days, but I needed some ME time...LOL!

So, while I was enjoying some time to my self, I discovered I had never shared with you my Cult Nails Hypnotic Collection from Fall 2011 collection!

I can't believe I never shared these colors with you, considering it was such a great fall collection.

Cult Nails
"In A Trance"
2 coats
"'In a Trance' shifts from olive green to a muted gold and has an enchanting shimmer that brings it to life."

Then, I decided to add the glitter from the set, Cult Nails "Hypnotize me" on top for fun! 1 coat

"'Hypnotize Me' lives up to it's name as an ice green sheer jelly with vibrant blue and green glitter that is marvelous on its own or layered over any color in this collection!"

And I LOVE the "burrito" packaging....

And check out the great cotton balls she uses as stuffing, I put these to good use :) (they do not come in a bag).

Cult Nails
"Awakening"
2 coats
" 'Awakening' is a muted teal that has a rich creme finish"

Topped with "Hypnotize me", 1 coat....

Cult Nails
"Enigmatic"
2 coats
"'Enigmatic' is a purple base with silver shimmer that draws flashes of red, blue, purple, and pink sparkle in the sunlight."

Topped with "Hypnotize Me", 1 coat...

Seriously, "Hypnotize Me", takes every color in this collection and puts them on another level! GORGEOUS!!!

I had no issues with the 3 shimmers and cremes. Applied nicely and dried to a perfect shine every time.  "Hypnotize Me", was a bit thick at first, but after a good shaking,  It was fine :)

I heard the top coat and base coat are super good, so I'll be adding them to my next order. :)

Looking at these pics, I am reminded why I love this collection so much, the versatility in color and texture is astounding !! I missed the pre-sale for the newest collection "Super Powers", but as soon as it is restocked, I'm getting it!
