Easter Day Manicure

Happy Easter Everyone!

I did a special manicure today, inspired by a manicure I saw on Pinterest using, my new Cult Nails color and the two of the newest additions to the Nicole by OPI Core Line.

Nicole by OPI "I Shop Mintage", Cult Nails "Casual Elegance", and "Nicole by OPI "Teal Me Something New".

Isn't it cute?  I love it, and it is supposed to be reminiscent of Easter eggs. :)  I started off with one coat of the base color (alternating fingers and colors) and then I added the 2nd layer of color with a wave pattern only 2/3 up on the nail.  I used thin layers, since I applied a full coat to the tip, and not just a wavy line. After that,  I applied the 3rd and final color in the same wave pattern to the lower half of the nail.

The original nail tutorial was on Pinterest via bellasugar.com, HERE.  Easy peasy!

The Cult Nails, "Casual Elegance" applied AMAZINGLY well! It is basically a one coater and it is a stunning light lilac creme. Smooth application and excellent drying time.

NOPI "I Shop Mintage" is a yellow based mint green creme. It was thin and did not apply well in one coat, so I made the 2nd coat thick which required a longer dry time.

NOPI "Teal Me Something New" is good. No application issues, and is a nice bright vivid teal green color.  I was scared it would stain, so I applied 2 layers of base coat just in case.  I'll update later, if it does stain *fingers crossed* :)

After I was done, I wasn't sure that anyone would recognize my nails as "eggs", but when my nephew saw them he said "Hey, they look like Easter eggs" :)  He is so observant!

Happy Easter and  Happy Resurrection Day, and I hope all of you have a blessed and joyous day .

Keep It Sweet!

Wingin It Lacquer "Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tails"

You need this color!

Yes you DO!!!  Today I have Wingin IT Lacquer "Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tails"...it is amazing!  I decided to pair mine over my FAVORITE black creme Cult Nails "Nevermore".

Here is 1 coat of Wingin It Lacquer "Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tails" over 1 coats of Cult Nails "Nevermore", no top coat.

Wingin It Lacquer "Mermaid Scales and Peacock Tails" is a black jelly LOADED with assorted sized iridescent glitter in varying shapes. AMAZING!  I added a little thinner to my sample bottle, so that application of this beauty went off stitch free.  It applied smoothly and really didn't need a lot of extra coats, one was enough.

Here it is in indirect light...

Here it is on the thumb in 2 coats...

The base is sheer enough that you can top this over any dark color and it will be magical! :)

You can purchase Wingin It Lacquer on their Etsy Shop and you can contact them on their Facebook page. Their polishes are $9.00 a bottle and they also make Nail Lacquer Jewelry too :)

Happy Friday and Keep It Sweet!

Layla "Flash Black"

Happy Monday everybody!  Today I have my first Layla Hologram Effect Nail Polish. Wow, was I sleeping on this collection when they came out. Now that I have "Flash Black, I need them all! :)

First, I started off with this manicure using Layla "Flash Black" 3 coats, and then 2 coats of Cult Nails "Nevermore"  on my accent finger, (my new favorite black)...

I used Nfu-Oh "Aqua Base", to make sure the holo color applied to a perfectly smooth surface. There are other products you can use, but I prefer to you aqua base as my base coat with my holo polishes. After aqua base dried I applied the Layla careful and smoothly, and it dried nicely.

I figured with a black holographic manicure why not do a black accent nail, but I was bored with it after 1 day, LOL...so I did a quick and cute nail art idea on saw on another blog.

I used my dotting tool to do this art design. I painted half of the nail in holo color, then I applied dots yo each side at the edge of the 2 colors. That's it!

The design was a bit bigger on my right hand than my left, oh well, it was still cute :) I topped this with Sally Hansen "Hard As Nails" (with the black top) and then SV to make is dry faster. :)

This is my first Layla, but not my last, LOL!  Do you have any of the Layla Holos? Which ones?

Football Season

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL???  My nephew is playing in a bantam gold league this year, and his team name is "The Wildcats" and their colors are navy, gold and white. He is #35...woo hoo!!!

So of course, being the good aunt, I always have my nails done in his team colors every Saturday for the big game.

Here is the first manicure I did for their first scrimmage...

I used...

L to R: China Glaze "FYI", Color Club "Antiquated", Cult Nails "Time Traveler", Zoya "Snow White", and China Glaze Crackle "Tarnished Gold".

This was their first scrimmage, so they wore their scrimmage uniforms with their nicknames on them. Check out my nephews scrimmage jersey...

Their team is 3-0 now...they practice 2 hours a day Monday-Friday....oh yeah, all those practices are paying off!

For the China Glaze "FYI", I used my Nfu-Oh "Aqua Base" over my usual base coat, to make sure the ChG applied smoothly and evenly. 2 coats of the ChG and it dried perfect and smooth. This picture is with my usual top coat routine of OPI regular top coat and then Seche Vite.

For the Cheetah Nail I did a base coat of the CC and then hand painted with a dotting tool the cheetah pattern using  Zoya and the Cult Nails. My nephew approved of the cheetah pattern, he really liked it! :)

I really liked this manicure...can you tell? LOL :)

Stayed Tuned next week for the next "game manicure"...until then Keep It Sweet!

Cult Nails Haul and Cult Nails "I Got Distracted"

Hello, today I will share pics of my recent Cult Nails purchases that I acquired during their recent $7 sale and my first manicure from that haul.

First up, the HAUL...

Left to Right: Nevermore, Captivated, I Got Distracted, Living Water, Seduction and Time Traveler.

I immediately swapped away "Living Water", since I already own it and love it, I figured this beauty could have a nice home somewhere else. My swatches, of my bottle, are HERE

So immediately I fell in love with "Nevermore", which is a smooth black creme, that covers in 1 coat and dries super shiny *drool*, and "I got Distracted", which honestly, totally distracted me the entire time once it was unwrapped and on my desk. :)

I did 1 coat of each, that's it!

Let me first clarify that this lovely glitter, is totally opaque in 2 coats, but I just could not resist "Nevermore" , so I used them both.

"I Got Distracted" is a  blackened emerald green jelly with green and holographic glitter.  It is from the Coco's Untamed Collection, and it is amazing. :)

The formula is amazing, smooth and gel like, easy to apply, the brush is easy to control, simply perfect! Maria delivers an outstanding product, check out her site HERE.

If you can't tell from my pics how sparkly and amazing this is, check out some "fuzzy pics"...

So gorgeous, like a perfect Christmas tree at midnight! Love it!

Green & Aqua Squishies!

Today I have a comparison of green/aqua squishy glitters and shimmer! Yeah I crammed everything into one, LOL! :)

Left to Right: China Glaze "Atlantis", Cult Nails "Toxic Seaweed", Sinful "Nail Junkie" OLD, Sinful "Nail Junkie" NEW.

Left to Right: China Glaze "Atlantis", Cult Nails "Toxic Seaweed".

Left to Right: Sinful "Nail Junkie" OLD, Sinful "Nail Junkie" NEW.

Yep, they changed Nail Junkie, and in my opinion it was for the better, take a look!

2 coats each.  Left to Right: China Glaze "Atlantis", Cult Nails "Toxic Seaweed", Sinful "Nail Junkie" OLD, Sinful "Nail Junkie" NEW.

For those of you who passed on "Toxic Seaweed", because you thought it would look like Atlantis, I'm sorry to say it does not. :(

Left to Right: China Glaze "Atlantis", Cult Nails "Toxic Seaweed". Atlantis is definitely aqua teal and it contains larger holographic silver glitter. Toxic is green and has smaller glitter that shimmers gold, with some additional rust or orange colored glitter in it as well. Both winners!

Sinful, well this comparison is more obvious...

Left to Right: Sinful "Nail Junkie" OLD, Sinful "Nail Junkie" NEW. Over a darker color the difference will not matter, but the NEW Junkie offers a great new option of wearing it by itself, and offering a more opaque finish! :)

I love both of my "Nail Junkie's"...because I'm a Nail Junkie as well, LOL :)
